Okay so i will begin by saying i'm not a caring l o l I know most karen say i'm not a karen, but I am not. Came in earlier today so excited to find some cute Halloween bakery items since all I ever hear is that Michaels is the place to go to. They did have some Halloween décor but sure. Enough when I went into the baking aisle, they had nothing of halloween. Which was a little disappointing because I had planned on making some Halloween. Themed cake pops. I'm new to the whole baking scene, and I was just hoping to find all these great items.I always hear about. Since they didn't have very much I. Decided to just make it work with whatever I found and then I asked if they had the cake pop stand that I had seen earlier online, saying it was available for pickup at Michael's. However, the store associate said they were out. No worries, then comes the checkout line. There's one person ahead of me, and it's an older lady. Bing forced to do self checkout and there were 2 store associates up at the front, there was no long line. Like I said, it was just her, they asked if I was paying cash or credit which I don't know anyone that pays cash anymore. So I don't know why that matters. I said credit, so they made me do the self checkout thing too. And said they would be right there to help me. Obviously the older lady is taking some time and needs more help and it's totally understandable. I was confused because they have a register. And there was literally somebody behind the counter, staring right at me watching me while i'm standing there, waiting for the store associate to help me through self checkout lol. After about 5 minutes of waiting, I finally just started scanning items. Unfortunately, I must have missed something. Because then I had to rescan all over again. Their system is very slow, scanned everything that took about another 10 minutes. No joke like I said, their computer is very slow, and it would freeze on me and take a moment to load Now there are two stores associates that are just literally standing there watching me? I'm very frustrated at this point, because I came to get Halloween baking supplies and I get it. They didn't have it, whatever it's not. The associate's fault but to sit there and prompt everyone to do self checkout. How lazy are you?I'm sorry.I could understand if it's walmart when it's crazy 247 but really michael's? They could tell I was getting a little frustrated and just watched me do their job for them. They said thank you very sarcastically, and I said, you're welcome. Very sarcastically, back thinking, yeah, you are welcomed, I rung everything up myself, I'm paid, not a big deal. I don't mind doing self checkout, but I had a lot of stuff. And then to have to recheck it all again, because their scanner was acting weird. Lose the self checkout, only utilize it when you're busy, not when there's one person in line. Neither of them were busy. There were a total of maybe three people in the...
Read moreI used to love Michaels. Now it's hard to even go in there anymore. I found myself there the other day and was lucky enough to find some cute bundles of trim on sale!
I also found some leather markers. I've recently taken up leather work and one of I made had a small crack near the stitch line. These seemed perfect!
I go to checkout and ask the cashier what happens if these don't work. The markers are a brand I never heard of. "oh if you open them it's not returnable. "
Me "hope an I going to know they work without opening them and trying them?"
Cashier "I'll ask my manager" Manager "not my problem. We have developed strict return policies"
Now I don't think I've ever returned anything at Michaels. I'm a craft hoarder.
However, I wasn't about to spend $20 not knowing if I could trust them.
So I put them back.
I went home and ordered them off Amazon. Saved $4 and had the reassurance to know I can return them if needed.
Saddens me to give more money to Amazon. I prefer to support my local stores. However, test me like a thief and I'll...
Read moreMy home away from home!! Heh heh. A crafters dream isn’t wake up one day and be told they own their own Michaels store!! Or at least that’s my dream! To wake up in bead, yarn scrapbook heaven!! Lol the deals are always great and the fact that they allow you to pile on coupon after coupon to help with the some what steep prices of certain items. Only downfall is that we can’t use the coupons on Cricut supplies or LEGO products. And they rarely go on sale. They should implement a Cricut/ LEGO coupon to the normal four monthly coupons we get in the mail. I use my Cricut constantly as part of my Etsy shop and it kills me to have to buy cutting mats. I mean one mat is $15!!! And tou don’t get a lot of wear from them before they need replacing. Luckily I discovered that ones are much longer lasting then the standard green ones. Who’d of known!! That aside the sales and door busters are awesome. Love...
