I'm giving two stars because the place is reliably open and carries an array of product and I have paid reasonable prices for used items from them, however, the staff I have encountered time after time are extremely rude. Now, I also want to premise this with the fact that perhaps these people are not capable of gauging, social interactions and professional interactions, so I want to start by giving them the benefit of the doubt if that is the case and the many reviews indicating rudeness are because of some kind of Asperger's or autism, in which case I would understand. Now, it's usually the same one or two guys that sit at the counter and on many occasions, I have been dealt with rudely and made to feel like I was being tested and evaluated by them. I have also had cameras repaired there, and I was spoken to, like I was a moron, and was crazy for wanting specific repairs done on cameras that I use in very specific ways. So, on one such occasion, after debate, they sent my camera out for repair, it came back wrapped in plastic and sealed, so I stuck it in my closet and saved it as my back-up for when I needed it. Two years later, when the time came, the problem that the camera was brought in with was still the same, a stuck shutter. I brought the camera back to them at this point, because I wanted to at least address the issue. I made it very clear that I understood that so much time had passed that I could not possibly hold them accountable, but I also wanted to point out to them that I'm an honest person, and that this was the circumstance, they handed me that camera, wrapped in plastic, and it went directly into a soft case in a closet where it stayed. It is inconceivable to think that the shutter that was replaced by them, would have the same issues I brought it in with. That was the only repair requested, and it seems to have not been performed. Instead of just acknowledging my grievance, because I wasn't asking for anything in return, they became confrontational and it was more important for them to argue their point than to provide good customer service. In the end, I ended up buying a secondhand camera from them at a reasonable price, out of immediate necessity. But now that it is time to have a lens fixed, I am not looking forward to dealing with these guys and am no longer confident that repairs will be done correctly or at all. I am going to drive a little further to another shop that has been recommended to me this time and will report on their page what my experience was. This was not easy for me to write. I don't like leaving bad reviews for small businesses and also didn't want to create a problem for myself should I HAVE TO rely on going there ever again, but after reading so many other reviews about the rudeness, I decided to tell my story.
Oh ya, they also try to scrutinize batteries and find any reason they can to tell you that you have something wrong. It came off as some kind of ploy to sell or deny...
Read moreI have never reviewed a sevice before, but this experience was so negative, that I felt compelled to let others know about it. right before the holidays I purchased a used camera from OC Camera. I was unfamiliar with this camera, but Cailean and the owner both assured me it was a wonderful camera and would more than meet my needs. One of my concerns was that this camera did not come with a built-in flash, so they sold me a new flash as well. Because I have never purchased a used camera before, I inquired about returning everything it if it did not work out. Cailean In fact, said i could make a full return i if I was unhappy within seven days following Christmas. After getting home I tried out the camera and found things i did not care for about it. So I promptly returned it with in the seven days post Christmas. Much to my dismay, it was a complete hassle, actually a disaster. After making me wait twenty minutes or more while they inspected everything, the owner then insulted me by saying that my reasons for returning the camera were not very good! It should not matter my what my reasons were, only that I did not like it! They then agreed to return it. However, not fully! No mention was ever made to me about 30% re-stocking fees, or the fact that the new flash would now be considered used and would be returned accordingly for 50% less the purchase price. When trying to take the high road and reason with them that I was never told this by Cailean, the owner got an attitude and stomped out of the room, throwing his hands in the air and making rude comments. Looking to Cailean for support as he was the one who made the claims and sold me the camera and flash, I found none at all. After going through this scenario of never having been informed they agreed to return the camera, but still charge me the 50% of the price of the flash. This came to a whopping $75. I gave up! I felt so intimidated and truthfully was worn out, you never treat customers this way, and especially two guys against a woman. I would have never have agreed to this purchase under those conditions. I just recently started coming to OC camera because of it's proximity to the college, I however will now never be able to step foot in this store again, and it's a shame! Not only have they lost my business, but I will never be able to recommend this store, and in fact will steer others clear of it, because it is impossible to shop somewhere where you cannot trust the people who work there, and know they will go back on their word! It is all very...
Read moreDropped off 2 lenses to have filters cut off as they were stuck after dropping my camera bag. I had someone pick up the lenses for me and when I got them, one of the lenses was not seated correctly in the barrel and was very loose. It wasn't like this when I dropped off the lens. Roozbeh took the lenses examined it and wrote an estimate to remove the filters.
When I called Roozbeh, he said they tested the lenses and they both "worked perfectly" and that I obviously caused the problem by dropping the lens (which was in my bag at the time so there was no other damage aside from the filter being stuck). I told Roozbeh that if the lens was quite noticeably very loose in the barrel when I dropped it off, he and I would have clearly noticed and he should have noted it on the estimate as a body repair shop does when you crash your car. Roozbeh was extremely rude and dismissive and kept cutting me off by saying repeatedly that I dropped the lens and it was my fault. I became angry with his accusatory rhetoric and tone andI told him we were going to have a problem if he didn't fix it. He hung up on me.
Later I sent Roozbeh an email reiterating the above and his response was the same. And asked him to "do the right thing and pay for the damage. His response was: "You dropped your lenses. All I did was remove the filters. We did not damage your lenses. We are not accepting liability for the damage you caused when you dropped the lenses. We will not cover any repair expenses. Any damage that was caused, was caused by you dropping your lenses."
