Good things come to those who wait! It took about 45 minutes to get a table during the Saturday morning rush. It was busy the whole time. What does that tell you? They are doing something right.
Despite the crowd, the service was prompt and friendly, and the food was hearty and tasty. They did a good job keeping our iced tea glasses full, bringing napkins, and other stuff we requested.
The food came out in a reasonable time, even though the kitchen was absolutely slammed with orders. The two cooks were doing an amazing job - I'm still not sure how they were getting it all done so efficiently.
The food itself was fresh and hot, classic home cooked style. I ordered the garden omelette, and added ham. It was incredibly tasty and stuffed full of all the ingredients. The hollandaise sauce on top was an awesome touch. Note they serve breakfast all day which is great for those of us who love to sleep in on the weekends! The rest of the classic diner menu options looked good as well.
Our kids also ate every scrap of their meals, which is the ultimate test. If the kids like it, you know it's a good restaurant!
By the time we were finished, I had a new appreciation for why it was so crowded. This place serves great breakfast comfort food. We will...
Read moreTerrible experience here, wouldn't recommend. Made us feel as though we are second class citizens. The waitress tended to everyone else but our table, after 15 minutes of sitting with no service the owner asks her why we weren't being helped.. Mind you this place was pretty empty. So she then comes over with an attitude, saying I shouldn't have a highchair by the table. Completely ignoring the fact that I have a 2 year old sleeping in my arms as the chair was for her. Insulting to the say the least, considering this was our first interaction with the waitress. No sincerity, no understanding her first words- "This is in the way" but i'll let you keep it there, referring to the highchair placed perfectly at the table. I decided at this time, it's clear I would take my business to where I'm not being treated as though I'm not welcome. I don't want to believe this is because we were the only black family there but I can assure you there was no smiles, nothing friendly about our experience at this restaurant. Sad to see and experience things like this still happening. We watched another family come in 10 mins after us and get tended to right away...
If you're a minority stay away from this place your business...
Read moreWe’ve been going to this place for years. The food has generally been good, but prices are going up. But, it’s a local establishment, so we try to go at least once or twice a month. Today, however, I never got a chance to order anything. The wait staff decided they would ignore or avoid us for 10 minutes with at least half the restaurant empty. The only people that spoke to us was a hostess telling us to sit anywhere and one waitress, who while helping one pair of ladies, kept avoiding us and then finally acknowledged us by looking our way. But, then continued to ignore us. Meanwhile, waitresses in other “stations” couldn’t seem to be bothered to say hello, offer water or say they’d find our waitress.
This is just rude and the food is not good enough to put up with this. Nor is the food worth the price to be ignored. This is horrible customer service that could easily be handled with a simple “hello…I’ll be right with you” or may offer us some water??? Nope. Nothing.
I’m sure it doesn’t matter to the owners of this restaurant as they seem to have a loyal following, but we will no longer be patronizing this local...
