Plenty of space and pavilions for family gatherings. Great place to play on the grass or playground in the early mornings before the Sun heats up the equipments. There were tennis courts; some were converted to pickleball and I saw several people playing pickleball. Many fishers trying to catch catfish (according to the park ranger, the lake has catfish). I also saw a lake management boat on the lake surveying and doing maintenance. I asked the park ranger if anyone can bring their boat out on the lake, he said personal boats are no longer allowed.
I recommend that you stay on the west pathways if you want to walk in more shade and less dust. I saw many vehicles drive down the west pavement to the south end of the park to the picnic tables. There is a thinner well-maintained dirt path to walk along the west side of the lake. The path on the east side of the lake is a wide dirt path, where many mountain bikers or family with baby strollers like to go on.
A fun tip: if you want to walk further, the south end of the park has a paved walkway that passes by the water treatment center and connect to the Niguel Botanical Preserve, YMCA, and the community center. Highly recommended to check out the Niguel Botanical Preserve if you're in the area and like to learn more about how to plant a beautiful garden in similar climates to...
Read moreBeen coming here for decades and always enjoyed amenities it offers. 1 star taken away for the geese population. In the on season they I rule the park and their poop is everywhere, so I don't wear sandals. Off season it's pretty clean considering. One of the larger regional parks offering a man made lake with fishing, tennis courts, trails, sand volleyball, 2 playground areas, and shelter with sinks, bbqs, tables and good workspace next to sink. This park is so large, there are areas that offer privacy via pedestrian access bridge - 2 on ends of park. Great place for biking especially trails around lake. There is a port a potty on street side of lake if needed. Reserve during summer if you are doing weekend partt, durng winter season reservations are not needed unless you want to be near big kids playground near entrance. If you have younger kids, save the money and go by tennis courts where you will find toddler playground and up close bathrooms! We love this park we buy annual parking pass and go regularly just to bike around lake it's that nice and good...
Read moreI rode my bicycle through this park on a Friday in March 2021 (red tier). It is HUGE. Well, the lake is only a little larger than a pond, but the park ambles around it around small hills and valleys creating dozens and dozens of areas to picnic or explore. There are also walking trails, courts, fields, play areas, gazebos, pergolas, and I think I saw part of an exercise par course. The park is well cared for and only very lightly populated onna Friday around lunchtime. I was really impressed. I came with family to ride the paved trails from South Crown Valley Park to Sheep's Hill park and back. It is a wonderful ride with paved trails all the way. We only crossed one busy street, but there is light for bicyclists using the trail! It is going to become a regular riding spot so i can explore more parks and trails that cross...
