Goodwill Store and Donation Center — Attraction in Lake Saint Louis

I'll keep this shoet if im able. Today im getting my car inspected and walked over to the Goodwill to see what they had. I go to several Goodwill stores a week. Inside this Goodwill today was a really cool table. Mind you a cool table that wouldn't fit in my car even if it wasnt two doors down on a lift.

I decide its to cool to pass up so i grab the tag and headed up front as the service center just called and my car was done anyway. i get up there and ask if i can come back later this eveing and get it becuase i would have to go get my truck. it seemed like that wasn't really something they like to do which is completely understandable but it also seemed like they had a policy of you had one whole hour. either way they got who I assume is the manager and she said I had one hour to come back and get the table. it would take all 60 of those minutes for me to get there and back in time but I thought it could be done and I said fair is fair.

I paid for the table walk a parking lot over grab my car and head back to my house to grab my truck. I throw some blankets in there make sure my straps are in there and head back to the Goodwill. I arrived with five or so minutes to spare before 6:00.

i walk in and I go back to the back and they tell me I need to go up front to check out or something which after hearing tbat k felt kikda silly i didnt do that to be gin with. I go back up front and I get in the very back of a long line. They were really busy and I wait 10 12 minutes who cares I'm in no hurry. i was chatting it upnwith the lady in front of me anyway.

I worked in retail for almost 12 years and 8 or so as a manager it's really impossible for me to get ignorant or upset at simple mistakes or process errors such as these or even policy. I was always on the other side trying to explain to the customer now that I am the customer I already know the explanation. I get up there and the girl who I had not seen before told me I need to go back to the dock doors and tell them that I'm here to pick up the table. again didn't bother me I paid for a screwdriver that I had grabbed off the shelf and headed back to the back.

I ran into someone back there super nice and he told me to just pull around and we'd do it that way they'd help me load it but they couldn't help me take it apart I was like I already brought a drill I know the rules just help me get the glass in the bed of the truck. so I'm walking back up front to move my truck around and that same girl who I'd spoken with before asked me if I had my receipt. I want you to know that every single employee was awesome but this girl gets my fivr stars, she was just relaying this information and was incredibly nice throughout the whole situation, tells me that the manager said that I need to have my receipt.

I tell her I don't have the receipt it's in the car that I just dropped off to get into this truck in under an hour. other employees were chiming in "yeah he was just here he paid for it he was going to leave the brown chairs cuz they didn't look like they went with the table"

at this point it's getting a little ridiculous and this manager doesn't seem to like me for some reason or is having a bad day or maybe she wanted the table I don't know what the situation was because she was frustrated that she was even asked if I could leave it there for an hour. Whoever had the evening shift yesterday is racist towards black people. Yesterday evening, I went to this Goodwill to get a Blues shirt for the playoff games. I figured I would be in and out, but unfortunately not so. When I approached the register, a cashier was doing something, saw me, and flat out ignored me. There was no greeting nor a promise of someone will be right with me. Apparently she was ringing a lady (who was white) out who went to retrieve more items and had a full on conversation with her. During this, another cashier walked behind the counter, looked at me, and then left the area. When the cashier finished checking out the lady in front of me, the other cashier then walks behind the counter to say, "I can take whoever is next," to the white woman behind me. The cashier I was in line for just simply said hi. She did not even fold my tshirt for me. She handed it back to me balled up and I had to fold it myself. I had already had a rough day at work and was so saddened and disappointed to get such terrible...

A bit upset about a return. Purchased a paper shredder that didn’t work when I got home. Tried to take it back a week later without a receipt and the manager came over and acted like I was trying to steal from them. She said I needed a receipt plus it looked like I “messed with the tag” on the item. I had to remove the tag to plug the cord into the wall at home. When I asked why they were selling items that didn’t work her response was “we have no idea what people donate or if anything works”. What a JOKE. My wife threw out the receipt and I understand that’s an issue. But the tag was still on it and I do not appreciate the accusation that I was doing something shady. Additionally, you have no problem taking items, tagging them, and taking peoples money yet at no point do you bother to see if anything works or be understanding when I try to return it.
