The only reason I keep shopping at this store, is because they have a good selection and for things they have that are FRESH and NOT EXPIRED. Their deli section, however, has been a disappointment to me on a number of occasions. I have gone there to buy soups and other prepared items, only to realize that they are DAYS old and still sitting on the shelf. One time when I asked the manager about the shelf life, I was told 5 days...another time I was told 10 days. Seriously?!? Who wants to eat what are supposed to be freshly made deli/prepared items that have been sitting on the shelf for more than 2 days already?? I often times want to go home and save some for leftovers for another day or two, but can't because the food is already so dated! I have had to return breaded meat before, right after buying it, because my SERATTED knife wouldn't even cut through it because it was so stale! On a couple other occasions, I had to return pastas because as soon as I got home and opened the container, I could smell that it was rancid! Now, whenever I go to the store, I am very careful to check the "packed" date, so I don't needlessly spend my money and have to waste time returning an item(s). Whenever I have brought this up with the manager, I am always told that they will talk to the deli people, but then I go back and it's the same situation. I am just shocked that a grocery manager would think that it's okay to continue to sell deli items that are more than 2 or 3 days (at the most) old...and especially at regular price. Some places will at least hurry up and mark-down items they want to get rid of, before they would expire...or perhaps they should just stop making such big batches/quantities, that they have so much left-over, still trying to sell for days. I told the manager that one day, someone is going to get very sick because of the store's practice and am surprised the health department hasn't already been involved. Just beware, especially if you shop the deli section. I wish I could have given this store a 4 or 5 rating, but for this reason,...
Read moreI shop here a couple times a week and this has happened a few times already where they make up prices for the products and don't list the price products where I am grabbing that particular product. You will most likely never find any prices listed near the sections where there is the polish products near the bread and sweet sections. You go to the cashier and they tell you that the price went up from 50 cents to 60 cents per product. From when do you increase the price each week by 10 cents and don't inform your customers? That is a violation of the law and I will make sure to complaint to the Cook County regarding this store because this is not the first time.
As written in the Illinois law 225 ILCS 470/19 enacted in 2009, " Provides that, if the customer was charged more than the advertised or posted price, and the value of the item in question was less than $3, the customer shall be given the item for free. Provides that, if the value of the item in question was $3 or more, the customer shall be sold the item at the correct price and $3 shall be deducted from the price charged. Requires the designated person to ensure that the correct price is posted and programmed into all payment systems within 30 minutes of receiving a customer complaint".
Not only MAKE SURE YOU WATCH THE CLERKS RINGING YOU OUT FOR THE PRODUCTS because THEY WILL CHARGE YOU TWICE FOR A PRODUCT THAT YOU ARE GETTING ONCE. I remember standing in front of a customer where he was charged twice as he was looking through his wallet and I ended up letting him know what the employee just did. ALL those cashiers at the registers are BIG LIARS and watch on Miriam and this other Hispanic blonde lady because it has happened multiple times and they ended up refunding me. That is not a fair business and if you don't know how to do business no wonder that they steal from...

UPDATE: August 2023 After 5,5 years of shopping here I am always satisfied and frequently amazed with the product availability as well as the personal customer service that I receive.
UPDATE: July 2022 I have shopped here for the last 4.5 years and love this market. Read below for all the reasons and so much more. They just recently issued new receipts that are broken down by department and so easy to read and understand. The staff are a joy and I always leave smiling and knowing that I have some great meals ahead. Thank you Shop & Save so very much!
Best by far. The prices are great and much less than other chain stores along Archer. The selection of Polish, Eastern European, as well as Latino foods is varied and of high quality. I buy many things here that neighboring markets just don't stock. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I'm basing this review on 2 years of experience shopping here and comparing it to other...
