Mariscos El Oceano — Restaurant in Lake Township

You guys! Idk what to say! I guess that I’m sad I waited so long to go! First of all, Luisa was THE BEST. She recommended the drink and the entree. The owner’s brother so happened to be sitting at the bar. We didn’t know who he was, of course. We were talking a little bit and we asked about the shrimp and modelo dish. We didn’t even know what to do with it! Haha 😅 Anyway, he asked if we lived in the neighborhood and told us his sister owns the place. He had overheard all of our previous praises, I think. He gifted this dish to us so we could try it. Omg. No words. Oysters and shrimp were phenomenal! I can’t give enough praise! Also, I’m not a sweet eater. This place is ok. I think it's a little too expensive. $100 for 2 meals. I know mariscos aren't cheap but for sure my plates did not seem like they we're $50 each and on top of that they charge me extra for tortillas. Most Mexican restaurants give you tortillas with the meal. This place automatically charges you gratuity without even asking you. Like I said it was ok. Also the waitress saw that it was 2 adults and 1 child and I think she didn't want us to share food with our daughter because she made a weird face when we asked her for an extra plate and silverware. Honestly over priced on the Guachinango plate. For that much money somewhere else would have given a bigger fish. Notice that the fish wasn't fresh because it smelled...

Cute place that I really wanted to love, however the food left soooo much to be desired. We came in on July 4th and it was super empty. We’re just glad we found an open joint! The table appetizer ceviche was ok, not memorable. We ordered el champúzon océano to share and it left soooo much to be desired. It had tons of imitation crab meat, tons of tiny scallops and unfortunalty very little shrimp, crab legs, mussels or prawns. It was all filler. Most marisco places provide bread and rice at no charge, not here at El Océano, there’s a charge for that. The service was great, the atmosphere and music were also great.
