I went here on a Thursday evening in July 2013 for Xavier Rudd. I am very impressed with this place. The sound was great. The staff at the front door was friendly, honest, happy and helpful. They nicely helped me twice with a ticket situation. The bar tenders were friendly. All staff seemed like respectable, real people. It was a very well-mannered and friendly crowd, but the security were also courteous and didn't seem like they were out to get you. This place was very very clean and looked very new. It felt ritzy inside, but yet so cheap to get in and bar-price drinks, not concert-price drinks. I will definitely be looking for future intimate music concerts here, despite driving over 2 hours just to get here. It is a small place, but the AC and airflow worked very well, so it was not stuffy.
The general area of Lincoln Hall was nice and had a hip scene and there are also some nice little restaurants/eateries and bars very near. Plus there is a nearby free 5 hour parking garage on the same side of Lincoln just on the other side...
Read moreThis is one of those unique venues that not only introduces Chicago to many up and coming bands but you can drink and get some food too. I always love seeing new bands. Recently "The 1975" played here and I was to late to secure tickets. I was so sad because they are so talented and tickets were only $17. They are one of my new favorites. Now I may have missed out on this show but I have seen other shows and attended events here.
The drinks are always good but the food is not that great. Only eat the food if it is free or if you feel like you are going to pass out.
The venue can get a little crowded. There is a main floor to watch the bands from or a balcony above. In the summer, I found the balcony to be a little hot. I guess the theory of heat rises is true for this location.
So keep your eyes open because you will never know who is playing here. I also saw that there is a Pandora Station that only plays acts that have played here. I have listened to it a few times and wished I was...
Read moreWe drove in from out of town to see a concert for one of my favorite artist. The space is amazing, super intimate with nice acoustics. The staff on the other hand is extremely rude. When we arrived we were asked to give our IDs, the man proceed to take our IDs and walked away, with no explanation. When we followed him inside of the bar we watched as he went in and out of several different rooms without explaining to us what he was doing with our IDs. He then came up to us and stated that he would not be giving them back because “they were fakes”. supposedly they have several fakes from the state that we are from. We then requested to see the manager where we promptly showed several other forms of identification and successfully proved that our IDs were in fact authentic. He did not apologize or acknowledge how poorly that situation was handled. Instead he walked over got us 21 and over wristbands and...
