Goodwill Store & Donation Center — Attraction in Lakeside

This Goodwill used to be one of few in the Denver area that gave me that adrenaline rush when you find a great item for a great price. I frequent this shop about once per week and it used to be that I found at least one jaw-dropping item. It's been months since I've come across that. The brands and items still exist, but they charge more than 50% of retail cost! The most egregious example was a Free People sweater that had tags with the retail price of $118. What did this GW charge? $90... LOL. You could have bought it off the clearance rack at Free People for less... and GW got the item for free.

The staff and the hope they change their prices is what keeps me coming back. And the staff being the staff - not management. On one occasion, I had a return. As a frequent GW goer, I knew management had to come and process the return. So, like always, I told the cashier I would wait to the side until a manager could come. I believe the cashier had to call on the PA system 3 times AND an off duty manager had to go into the back and get the manager. I've spent many years working retail and know that the delay is not the cashiers fault. Yet, the cashier clearly felt horrible for the wait and was extremely apologetic. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the manager arrived. She didn't even say hello to me let alone apologize for the delay. Then, she proceeded to explain to the cashier how to process a return - but stated what we were both thinking... cashiers don't have the codes to process of a return. Odd power trip to display in front of a customer.

Lengthy post because I've shopped here every week for the past year. The employees and occasional good deal keep me coming back. Actionable items to this GW - I highly suggest pricing your items at a reasonable price point (and do some research if you want to mark up. Almost all retail stores will drop their prices at least 50% before the retail store parts with the item) and maybe give management a lesson in customer service - the cashiers could probably lead...

Would get 5 stars, but there are no mirrors to try on clothes. As background, I shop here at least 2x a month and have forever.

Good selection for a smaller store! Pricing is wacko . For example, Why are dishes, utensils, and glassware, shoes and t shirts more expensive used than at W where it can be had new? Why are kids backpacks really high? And this accounts for the tag sale prices. Especially odd considering W is across the parking lot.

Nice staff (except management, the management is sub par as you can see from their canned response below), but it could be SO much better! They could make much more money for the cause.

I find it sad that management just posts a pre- written, blasé response to reviews and nothing changes.

Why, when you sell mostly clothes, don't you have even ONE mirror? This seems weird!! What IS the deal??

They had to do away w changing rooms due to thievery which is incredibly sad. So no mirrors there, either. Stealing from a charity...wow.

Anyhow, , I have observed repeated times management will stand clustered around a register that maybe is jacked up? Who knows. . They never jump on a register. It appears they get confused about the registers and how to fix them and then a long line is created bc they focus on the register instead of the line. Maybe ? they're thinking is "if we get this one uo and running it will shorten the line" well they have it...

My daughter and I visited this store for a live thrift event that we do twice a week at different thrift stores. The staff here was absolutely amazing to work with and our customers absolutely loved the choices and how stocked the shelves were!!! Thank you for having us and we cannot wait to visit again soon!!! If I could give more stars I would!!!

UPDATE: Our last visit here had a couple of hiccups, however the manager that was on duty the day that we were there was absolutely on point!! She handled herself professionally, and took very good care of us. We try and stay out of the way while we shop your shelves for upwards of 7 hours. There were only a couple of staff members that get a little feisty during our visit, other than them the other staff there are still absolutely amazing. UPDATE:: We return to this store every couple of weeks, it is one of our favorites to return too!! The shelves are packed with goodies!! The staff is so accommodating, from the cashier's, the floor staff, to the managers! They always have great items to choose from and make sure that the store looks inviting and organized.
