If you're in the Tacoma area and looking for a top notch bowl of Jajangmyeon, check this place out! It's a total hole in the wall mom and pop shop that makes some great food!

I grew up a picky eater… I can now confirm that I was wrong and missing out on all the delicious foods.

It’s our first time going to Pal-Do but definitely not the last! I can’t help but to compare it with H-mart. With regards to variety of choices in the produce and groceries, I think both Pal-Do and H mart has about the same level of variety, maybe a little bit of an edge on H-mart BUT the upside on Pal-Do is the prices on the produce which is the cheapest we have seen so far. This place is definitely great for wholesalers and or restaurants since they sell the biggest canisters of soy bean paste I’ve seen so far 🤣 among others. They have bigger aisles so it is easier to go around compared to H-mart. They also sell a lot of Filipino goodies/products which we haven’t seen in other stores, so it was definitely worth our 30min drive from where we live. If you like seafood, this is also a great place to go, although the live seafood is limited to tilapia and crab (forgot the species there today). Having your fish cleaned/cut is a breeze. The Korean pancake corner by the seafood section is a treat! They have a proper bakery by the entrance of the market which sells a variety of Korean pastries and cakes that looks delicious but didn’t try some today. A plus for us where the food stalls inside the mart, which offered Japanese, Chinese and of course Korean food. We dined at the Nak Won Korean stall and the food was delicious, price is reasonable and the servings were generous but what made it extra enjoyable to dine there was the Korean food attendant at Nak Won. She was very attentive and extra pleasant! Till our next visit!

Family Deli (Side Dish House) is inside the Paldo Market in Lakewood. It offers a wide variety of popular Korean side dishes. A friend of mine strongly recommended this place many times, so I had to stop by to give it a try while visiting the Point Defiance Park. I bought two packs of seasoned pork hock (aka Jokbal). It was tender, juicy and delicious. Now, this place is my go-to place for Jokbal. I am a bit concerned about sharing my review because I know for sure that I will have a hard time getting the jokbal from this place if it gets super popular. One disclaimer - if you are a big fan of making Ssam (Korean Lettuce Wraps), get some lettuces from Paldo Market as Family Deli doesn't provide one. Anyone who doesn't know about the Ssame but still wants to try it, do some googling and/or youtubing to learn about it. It is very easy to make it, and you will not regret it!

I’ve been told by some friends that I would love this store. They were right. I was super impressed. When you walk in there’s a bakery to the left then straight into the produce section. Such a huge selection of produce you can only find in Asian stores. It was fresh and inviting. I was amazed at the affordable prices. I’ve been paying way too much at Uwajimaya. There’s a seafood department with live fish and crab and fresh fish on ice. Theres a small meat area (no butcher counter). The aisles of the store are by nationality. There’s Filipino, Thai, Chinese and only a small Japanese aisle. The food comes in small packages all the way up to commercial size bags. The prices and selection blew me away. I’ll be back for sure. Lots and lots to explore and hopefully the food court will be open. I took photos at just a few items.

I accidentally found this store on google Maps and decided to give it a try. It's a fairly big building with tall ceilings. I appreciated their food court as it looked as authentic korean cafe. They have a wonderful selection of korean food products, and they even cook fish cookies right in front of customers and serve them hot and yummy. A little section of korean kitchenware is a plus as well. I think that the only drawback is that the store is not all clean and pristine. It could use a layer of fresh paint and some renovations. Overall I was happy with the visit and purchased plenty. I will definitely come back again.
