Winterhurst Ice Arena — Attraction in Lakewood

I went for skating with 7 of my friends and we left a half hour in to it. We paid $12 for 2 hours of skating, pizza, and pop. They did not have skates large enough for my one friend so he paid the $12 and was going to sit on the bench and watch us skate. He was told that if he did not have skates, he had to leave the arena or they would kick him out. We were also told that we could not walk around the lobby in our tennis shoes. We HAD to wear our skates (I don't know about anyone else, but I feel like I'm going to break my ankle when I walk in ice skates)! I could almost understand this if they were using it as a way to tell who paid and who didn't, but we were given wristbands to show that we had paid. I was very disappointed in the way that we were treated and the way that everything was handled, so we left...

My family and I spend a LOT of time here because both my son and I play hockey. While the restrooms and locker rooms could use updating, the overall experience is wonderful. I really do wish we had hooks in the girls locker room, though!

Additionally, the staff is always welcoming and helpful. I stopped in yesterday afternoon to get some info on adult drop in hockey and the gentleman at the front desk was a delight. I got all the information I needed and he was so cheerful, it brightened my day.

Some other sports facilities have issues with scheduling and game start times, with everything getting more and more delayed, but never here!

It isn't the shiniest, newest facility but it is a space that we can come and feel...

came here for open skate on Friday (1 to 3 & arrived at 130) after standing in a line to pay , proceeded to get skates ... they didnt have skates left specifically in my size & around since they're "popular size". ( 6 7 8 9 ) then was told they didnt have my sons size either AND ran out of the red things that help the kids skate ... HOW when youre specifically an ice skating place ??? and to add expensive ...!? was excited to show my son where i used to skate when i was a kid, but didnt have a chance & left since they didnt have our sizes or anything close & the helper thing . WOULDN'T...
