LaLa Custom Cake — Restaurant in Lakewood

We were unhappy with our last cake. It was for our daughter's 3rd birthday and it was not good. The vanilla cake was so overdone and dry. We could tell as soon as we cut the cake because it was an ugly burnt brown color. So so dry at the edges. And no sprinkles inside or out. I saw that they were missing from the decorations of the cake when I picked it up and I just thought, no big deal we will put some on when we get home. Then before we cut the cake we reminded Caroline that there would be colorful sprinkles inside and she was confused and sad when not only were there no sprinkles but she thought it looked "yucky" and politely declined her own birthday cake. No one asked for seconds. Which was opposite of the cake we ordered prior to this one for our son's first birthday. We went a size up this time bc everyone wanted seconds with Colton's cake but with Caroline's, almost the whole cake was left and we just threw it away. The inside seemed like way more icing than cake. And there was barely any fruit inside, we had to search for it whereas with Colton's it was all throughout the cake and so delicious. If Caroline's cake had been the first that we had ordered, we would not have come back for a second one. Super happy with my experience with LaLa Custom Cake! I had been in the shop a couple of times previously to pick up some of the adorable chocolate pretzels that they make for holidays, but only just ordered a cake from them.

I had called the shop to ask about a vegan cake for my mom’s Birthday with a custom design. Leah had me email over some photos of designs that I had in mind for inspiration; she responded promptly, with her suggestions of bits and pieces from the photos that I sent over with what she thought would work best with the size of the cake and the timeframe.

The cake that they created was amazing! They incorporated items perfectly based on the photo ideas I had sent over. When picking it up, they were also super helpful with explaining how to store it and when to take it out of the fridge for serving and such.

The design was perfect, proved by the fact that when I brought out the cake, everyone was in awe and taking photos of it! My mom also really appreciated having a vegan cake, and even my two year old nephew enjoyed some of it (so you know it was good!).

LaLa was the perfect venue for our ceremony! From start to finish, their team went above and beyond to make sure our day was absolutely amazing. They were enthusiastic, professional, and genuinely excited to be a part of our celebration. Scheduling appointments was a breeze, and when we accidentally mixed up one of our times, they graciously accommodated us without hesitation.

The cake was stunning—exactly what we envisioned—and it tasted just as incredible as it looked. The cupcakes that came with it were equally delightful, and our guests loved guessing which of the four flavors would be their favorite. It added such a fun and memorable touch to the reception!

What impressed us even more was their willingness to deliver outside of their normal delivery zone just to ensure everything arrived perfectly. That kind of customer service is rare, and it shows how much they truly care about their clients.
