The Red Rose Cafe — Restaurant in Lakewood

So, I really really hate to give places bad reviews. Especially places that I've previously absolutely loved. But whoever was bartending on Sat Oct 2nd around 7pm was incredibly rude to us.

When we used to live in Lakewood, we would come here once or twice a week for drinks and pierogies (because I'm a pierogi addict, and the caramelized onions here really are delicious). We've just moved back from Louisiana and one of our first stops has to be here (there are no pierogies Louisiana). I'm not sure if this dude was new to bartending but from the moment we sat down he treated us like absolute dirt, scoffing at our drink order, ignoring our request for a menu and just walking away from us more than once when we were in the middle of either our initial order or our request for a refill. Now we've lived in New Orleans, we know that a busy bartender can't always be as attentive, but it was absolutely not busy at all. At the end of it all, I thanked him politely and was stilled completely ignored.

I'm not mad at the bar but to be quite frank, if the service had been even remotely cordial, we'd be right back to our weekly visits, as it stands now, we'll get our pierogies and...

I was in the Rose 4:30 PM Thursday April the 4th of this very year. I was dogged unmercifully by the glassy eyed attending bar maid. She said I was too drunk to serve. I was sober as a judge. I gave her on out. I said "maybe youi have me mistaken for someone else"? She said I was bar crawling all day. I was stunned. No man present would look up from his drink during our exchange. I am a Viet Vet, retired and physically disabled. My treatment was uncalled for. I feel deeply outraged inside, so I am venting here. I was treated like some people might treat the homeless, or a bumb. My family is looking into legal matters, but there was no damages to claim, otherwise I would love to sue the rose for public humiliation. It was a truly twighlight zone moment. My family and friends will no longer attend the Rose. It is just half a block from my home, pity. They beleve such an unstable woman shouldn't be trusted around...

Cass, Kip, and Cindy are great - go if they're working! Wings are bomb.

But one of their bartenders is not like the others... Avoid going in if Steve is working unless you like your bartenders to ignore you, refuse food service (I don't believe they don't serve wings after 9 pm on a Saturday night), and just generally be very rude.

Brought in a family member from out of town who is a senior and he was exceptionally rude to her and our group, going as far as making rude comments to all. Have also seen him be ridiculously mean to groups of families who come in to eat in the afternoons and let their kids bowl while they have a beer and wings. Also likes to avoid putting on playoff football games in favor of robot shows or meaningless gameshows. He's gotta be losing this bar SO much money.
