Becker's Bridal Outlet — Attraction in Lansing

When I say I was nervous to try on dresses, I was NERVOUS. As a plus size bride I had an idea in my head, but I didn't know how to explain it. I thought I would be searching for a dress for months. My mom and I decided to go to Becker's Bridal Outlet just to try on different styles and I was greeted by Laney - From check in to check out, Laney was my girl. She was absolutely wonderful in helping me articulate what I was looking for, helping pull dresses, helping zip, button, clamp, and fluff every dress I tried on. She wasn't pushy and she made both my mom and I feel so comfortable and provided such a calm and peaceful experience. Even when my aunt joined us and we tried on two veils a million times each, she never rushed us or made us feel like we needed to make a quick decision. My mom even found her dress the same day! She asked Laney if they ever get a style in, and she was able to pull one for her in the perfect size! I 100% recommend making the trip to Becker's. I purchased my dress at the end of August. I had an amazing experience overall. The place is beautiful, and the staff was very friendly. The pricing was much higher than expected, especially for being the dresses that were tried on 1000 times. But I did fall for a dress and purchased it. Everything being final sale, I had to make my peace with it. It’s now been three months and I started the alterations process. There is much more damage to the dress than was let off when I purchased it. It was already at my max budget in as-is condition. I was told it just needed a zipper, a hem and bustle, easy peasy. Well when I pulled it back out of the bag for the first time since purchasing it and put it on the seamstress has shown me several decals that are falling off a large tear in the back of it as if someone took a knife to it. Little holes all over, missing buttons and a hook. It’s just very devastating to have spent so much money on a dress that needs so much repair. I’m not one to write reviews but I felt like I should. the environment was super nice and beautiful and everyone was super welcoming. That was awesome! Definitely had some beautiful dresses. But unfortunately, our consultant made me and my bridal party a bit frustrated. She started off our conversation by saying “I don’t like going to the racks more then twice” and just how it was said made me feel like I shouldn’t be able to or have to go out twice. I was already nervous coming into dress shop and this just made me a bit more nervous since I felt like I wasn’t allowed to go out more times if I needed. She only helped pick one dress out. As much as I loved that dress, I was maybe expecting a bit more help, and so were my bridesmaids. She wasn’t very personable or friendly so I felt very reserved and just ended up shutting down a bit. I did end up crying in the dressing room and I felt rushed to collect myself and continue. I know I’m on a time limit but all I needed was a couple minutes and I felt like I couldn’t have that.
