My fiancee and I walked into Acapulco a few minutes after 9:00 PM (we had just left Michael's across the way). They were scheduled to close at 10:00 PM, but we figured an hour was enough time to order something simple. First bad sign: no one at the host station and no bell to ring for service. We waited around for several minutes in the hopes that someone would eventually notice us. The bartender and several other employees could see us, but they seemed focused on end-of-day cleaning tasks. One of them had a vacuum cleaner and was using it around the still-occupied booths. Again, it was almost an hour before closing. Finally, someone came over to show us to a table. No apology for the wait. We were seated in a very cramped booth, but things seemed to be picking up. A basket of chips and salsa showed up at our table immediately, and someone (I don't recall them giving their name) popped up to take a drink order. We asked for water, it came right away ... and then we waited. We folded our menus and set them on the edge of the table. More waiting. We could see several employees walking around by the kitchen. Someone came out with a sweeper. No one made eye contact. The few other diners in our area finished their meals and we were left alone. One person came over to clean the nearby tables, ignoring us. We finished our chips and salsa and STILL no one had come to take our order. Finally, it was almost 9:30 and we decided to leave while there was still time to get food somewhere else. There was no one behind the host station on our way out, but I told a nearby employee that we had waited too long for service. They said they were sorry and we left. This was disappointing, since we had been to Acapulco a couple of times about four years ago and had been satisfied by the food and service. If we had been forewarned of a wait, or if the service had been attentive, we wouldn't have minded very much ... but we felt like we had been forgotten. Perhaps if we had arrived an hour or two earlier, things might have turned out differently. But good service should not end 60 minutes before the doors close. I'm not sure we'll be back...
Read moreMy husband and I have eaten at this location on numerous occasions but today was the worst ever. We were taken to our table by a staff member (not our server) and given some chips n salsas.
Now prior to him asking us what we wanted to Drink, the table behind us was paying for their meal as we were sitting down and their table hadn't been cleaned yet.
Our server then approached our table and asked what we wanted to drink we both said water please.
He said one moment and I watched him go the the dirty table he then came back to ours and placed napkins and silverware on our table that he took from the table he was cleaning.
I said to my Husband, you know he just gave us the napkins and silverware from that dirty table. I was in disbelief that the server thought this was Ok to do.
I didn't want to make a scene because we hadn't gotten our food yet. My mind went to so many places like what if those people were sick, what if they held those napkins and potentially wiped their mouth, what if they picked their nose, coughed on them, etc.
My husband tends to think I over react at times and this is the reason why. I couldn't even eat my food because I was so grossed out that had happened to us.
So I said to my Husband before we left the restaurant, this is the reason I will place my food into something we haven't finished, or I have in the past, taken the silverware we don't use and place it in food items so they can't reuse them for another customer.
So I took those napkins that came from a dirty table and placed them inside of my water, he took some of his left overs and put it in the salsa we didn't eat and I took the silverware and rubbed it all in our food that we left on the table.
Got our receipt and the servers name was THEO. We ate there today 8-30-2024 around 4:05 pm.
It makes me so angry that he did that and who's to say he hasn't done that before to other people.
HOPE THE MANAGER AT THE RESTAURANT...
Read moreFirst off, it’s been a very hot minute since I’ve done a review. Rest assured, I’ve been in the zone and am better than ever!
Cutie and I recently took the great Frandor Acapulco for a spin, and my goodness, that was the best burrito I’ve ever had. I got the Burrito Choriz, which was a heaping burrito with delicious shrimp and pineapple, along with all the typical burrito fixings. I accompanied that bad boy burrito bandito with a frozen banana margarita because I was looking to get loose. So dang delicious, I would bathe in that banana margarita. It comes in a massive chalice, beautifully adorned with a rim of salt, a lemon, and lime. It’s quite “stuntin” if I do say so! Cutie got a raspberry margarita to enjoy with the fajitas she loves.
Our waiter, I believe his name was Eduardo, was lovely, super polite, and timely. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was so colorful and a fun glimpse of Mexican culture. We love this place and it is the best for authentic Mexican cuisine. The portions are so large that I had an entire meal left for later, as did Cutie.
Back to those margaritas, I love getting hammered on those things. They’re so tasty, but they do indeed hit, son! I’ve walked out of there almost blackout drunk before, but that’s how I get down when I’m in Acapulco. Don’t hate on your boy now! Peace to all worlds!
Addendum 8/30/25 Just ate here again with cutie and got the same burrito. Absolutely the apotheosis of burrito bliss. Cutie got the fajita burrito and had a whole meals worth...
