Breakout Escape Rooms Lansing — Attraction in Lansing Charter Township

If I could leave zero stars I would. I am unimpressed with the quality of service. I called ahead to ask if this place had a reservation for 9:15pm since they close at 11pm per the website and I was told yes. But when my family and I came to the place the employees were wrapping up and leaving. Apparently they close at 9pm if no one has booked a reservation . I chose not to book on the phone because we were 15 minutes away and would get there at 8:50. I’m frustrated because the woman on the phone didn’t tell me that they were closing if we didn’t book online. This information should be told upfront because it’s ridiculous to show up to a place that says they are open until 11 but not in reality. There was one guy who seemed sorry and was kind but the woman was rude and made it apparent that she didn’t not want to stay. I won’t even bother coming back to...

So I previously had a weird experience here when the team member who did our ending wrap up spent quite a bit of time making fun of the mistakes that we had made and everything we did wrong. That didn’t feel the best, so I was nervous about coming back.

It was probably just a one-off experience because my second time here was much more pleasant and the interactions with all the team members were positive and supportive. Alexa, who ran our room, was really sweet and made it a good time for us. In the ending wrap-up, I felt like we were laughing about mistakes made TOGETHER rather than her laughing AT us like I’d experienced previously. She was great. We had a great time! Alyx (awesome name) is my dream game master. I went as a small group of three, and the other two had never done an escape room before. Alyx struck a perfect balance of letting us figure things out and providing hints when progress stalled. It kept a fantastic pace and never let us remain stagnant or become frustrated. She also took time at the end to walk us through the few puzzles that remained, which is something I've never had anyone at any other escape room location do. Will definitely be coming back, and I hope that when I do, we get Alyx again.
