I live directly adjacent to this lovely park. It is like living in the woods in the most densely populated county in Florida. The walking trails are so tranquil ,and they remind you of what Pinellas County really looked like before development. The birding trail at the park entrance has a natural stream flowing up from underground to the Gulf. I have have found through research that the stream was used by the local Indians who inhabited the area in the 1500's. There is also a kayak launch and a boardwalk that leads to a quiet pavilion over the water. Come at low tide and you will see lots of birds roaming about the intracoastal waterway feeding. Nature abounds, especially at night. I often hear owls hooting...sometimes I hoot back! I have spotted bald eagles in the daytime among the taller trees, as well as a variety of birds in winter, as it is a migration spot. I am amazed about how many visitors find this local gem. I have talked to people from not only all over the US, but also Vancouver, Amsterdam, Gibraltar, Cape Town, and others. It is well...
Read moreThis park is off the beaten path. It is located in a neighborhood. Unfortunately, this park does not offer much. The walking path has a lot of broken sidewalk. If you decide to walk here, please be careful. If you use walker or wheelchair, I would not utilize the walking path. There are signs stating, no dogs allowed on the trail. There is a bridge that leads to a beautiful area that over looks the water. The bridge is safer to walk on. There are no broken slats. There are covered areas to enjoy, along with grills to use. There is a small playground (see picture). There are restrooms available by the playground. There is a large covered area to enjoy as well. Great for functions. One of pluses about this park is the tranquility. It is very peaceful. That I...
Read moreNice park in Western Largo. There is a small boardwalk through the mangroves that goes out to the water. There is a decent sized paved and unpaved (shell) trail through dense wooded areas. There are various trees including oak, palm, and mangrove and plenty of ground cover and brush. There is a creek, bridges, and a marsh as well. We saw a decent amount of wildlife, mostly birds while on our hike. There is also a picnic area, small playground, and restrooms near the parking lot. Also learned about German cockroaches from a weird sign in the middle of...
