(This review is not for the Park, but for the kids karate program that takes place at this location. I hope the people in charge of the Parks and Rec activities sees this and can speak to Sensei Mark from the karate program.)
I'm pretty upset. My son did martial arts through Lathrop Parks and Rec, and the regular teacher was great. Sensei Mark was the head of the program and would teach every now and then, and in the 4 months we were there he gradually started getting harder and harder on the kids. My son came home crying because Sensei Mark said that he would start demoting kids and taking away their belts if they didn't improve. I've seen him be overly and unnecessarily tough & MEAN towards any kids who are yellow belt and above. Some of these kids are 8 years old or younger, but he treats them all like they're teenagers in military school! His style reminds me of the bad guys in Cobra Kai....
