Unfortunately, a golf course that I enjoy playing was tainted by pro shop staff that was not friendly, rude and more interested in arguing than providing good customer service. When I checked in for golf I questioned why the rate was more than what was displayed on the online booking system. He stated that my friend who booked the tee time called to book it rather than use the online system and therefore we didn't get the better rate. I also overheard another staff member giving another customer an additional $5 off because the range was closed due to wet conditions. When I asked my friend as we were playing how he booked the tee time he most definitely made the tee time online. After our round of cart path only, extremely soggy conditions and no driving range, we went back into the pro shop to again inquire why we didn't get the online rate. The man working by himself was much more interested in arguing with us and trying to be "right" than he was at providing good customer service and acted as though he had no ability to adjust our rate. When I told him about the $5 discount given to the other group due to the closed range, he simply said "I have no idea what that was all about". I drove 2 hours to play this course and have done so for many years but I will not be returning next year nor will my other friends who played with me. There are too many nice courses that appreciate my business and wouldn't treat us this way. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because I do like the golf...
Read moreJuly 1, 2024 Update! Course is in good shape especially given all the water we have had of late, but fairways are lush and very green! Some bunkers have been improved significantly, but a lot still to be done that one wonders why it is taking so long. Greens are soft and (I believe) need to rolled and especially cut more frequently as they are still a little slow. But, to be certain, course is very playable! Staff seems to be more "with it" now. Same can't be said for the Pro Shop guys yet.
September 5, 2023 update! Bunkers are mostly still in disrepair which is one of two big drawbacks to The Fort Golf Course. The other is that with so much play, greens on some holes are getting chewed up and some greens never seem to be spot plugged and over-sanded as they do at other courses. Course overall in very good shape, but honestly, with greens and bunkers beaten up, The Fort is no where near where it could be with a little time, energy and effort.
October 1, 2022 - Great layout and a lot of tough, challenging holes. Sadly, it appears that they are not investing in the course itself (especially the bunkers). Does the state of Indiana realize what a great golf course this "could be"? Doesn't seem like. People are really...

Our group of eight traveled from out of town with high expectations and genuine excitement to play this course. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short. Partway through our round, we were asked to leave the course due to rain — not for lightning or dangerous conditions, and we were fully prepared and willing to play through.
Rather than being met with understanding or flexibility, we were given a partial reimbursement based solely on the number of holes completed. No rain checks, no store credit, and no exceptions — despite the fact that six of us had traveled from out of town and had no realistic way to return.
What made the situation worse was the unnecessarily rude and dismissive attitude from staff. We approached the matter respectfully, hoping for some reasonable accommodation, but were met instead with inflexibility and a lack of basic courtesy.
Golf is a game rooted in hospitality and tradition, and unfortunately, that spirit was entirely missing from this experience. We left feeling disappointed and unwelcome. Regrettably, we won’t be returning — and cannot recommend this course to others, especially those visiting from...
