Feedback sent to corporate: Can you please tell the manager and cafe employees to lead with kindness? I have a mom group and we walk every Monday around the mall. The mall is dying. We try to support the stores in it, and used to meet at the cafe in Books A Million. We did this because we also run a local book club, so naturally we want to support you guys.
We no longer meet in the store, instead choosing to get Dunkin Donuts. We no longer purchase our books from the store either.
We have kids, weāre a mom group. Our kids have never destroyed anything in the store, they have never climbed on things, hurt themselves or bothered others trying to make purchases.
Every dang time the manager and/or cafe employee (itās always the same two women) are following us in the store or reprimanding our children. Reprimanding them for picking up stuffed animals and not putting them back. Or for being too loud. Now keep in mind our kids are always with us. They do not run around the store. So these two women are reprimanding our children in front of us.
Please talk to this store. Or have them remove the stuffed animals, kids books and etc.
Weāre stay at home Moms, with good kids who most are homeschooled. All we are trying to do is support are closest mall. It takes a village but your employees are not the āvillageā. They are the nasty people that do not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLike millions of others we found ourselves at a store right near closing. With complete empathy and understanding to the plight of an employee just wanting to get home after a long day at work we made it to the check out right at the last moment. We decided not to go and purchase several other items we wanted and decided we would come back for those other items another time and decided to check out with the $120 in books we already had ready to go. Like many others my wife decided with so many books she wanted a new bookmark from near the checkout so she went to grab one as I walked up to the counter. When asked if I was ready I said I wanted to look at the cards behind the counter while my wife grabbed the bookmark she wanted to which the response I received was a snide āWell were closedā¦ā to which I asked if that meant he was not going to check us out? He said āNo Iāll still check you outā Mind you my wife was no more than 4 steps behind me and what I asked to look at was less than 10 seconds of reading the items name. This attitude amongst people in retail and service is driving people like myself who truly try to have empathy for what is delt with daily from the public into people who will no longer care and Iām starting to understand why so much of the public are the way...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen here several times before as my child loves books. We always have a pleasant time at this store. But today I have to say an amazing employee which name started with an M (I apologized for not remembering her name) made the visit an extra special one for my kid. My daughter wants to be an Historian one day and be an author and now she wants to change her on to a literature/books theme room so we went to this store for some frames, pillows, cases and stuff with that theme. The employee heard us and made conversation with my daughter. They spoke about books and let her know how amazing it was she was so into them and about what she wanted to be when she grows up. She also provided my daughter with a cute ābook nerdā item. At the end she let my daughter know sheāll watch out for my daughterās book one day when she sees it for sale at the store. I donāt think this employee knew, but as a homeschool mom myself, this employee made our day and reminded my daughter once again that she can be anything she works hard for. Thank you M! Hope you read this and know who you are! Hope we see you again next time we visit...
