EyeMax — Attraction in Lexington

Very disappointed. I called to schedule an appointment and asked if they accept VSP. They informed me that they did and asked for the last four digits of my SSN to verify. When I arrived for my appointment I was told that there would be a $75 charge for the appointment and fitting. I asked why this was so much since it was $25 last year with Simpson Optical. They said it was because they were out of network. Had I not already scheduled time off for this appointment I would have walked. Alyson, the doctor I spoke to when I told the receptionist that I was unhappy about this was rude on top of this. She told me that it's not their responsibility to verify my insurance (every doctor I've ever had has done this) and that they don't have to see me. Terrible customer service. I wasn't looking for or expecting anything free or discounted but did expect at least an apology or assurance that this wouldn't happen again. She told me "we can't give you anything at a cheaper price because that would be insurance fraud."

I think these people have spent too much time too close to Walmart. I expect better out of medical professionals and will not be back. I guess there's a reason why certain eye doctors are booked for months and EyeMax was able to get me in...

Dr. Shelby Henderson is the best optometrist I’ve ever been to! She is so kind, fun, gentle and informative. She Explained things to me about my eyes in a comprehensive manner and made sure I understood. She took the time to answer all of my questions and ask me a lot of questions no optometrist has ever asked me before, and I have been wearing glasses and contacts for 25 years. I arrived for my appointment, they got me right inside and started almost immediately. For the most part the other ladies working there have great customer service skills as well. Dr. Henderson adjusted my prescription and I am seeing so much better with no headaches anymore. When discussing my contact options she made sure to find the best contacts for me, in the price range that I wanted to stay in, taking into consideration all of my specific eye needs. I liked the fact that I didn't have to wait long to be seen. The preliminary eye tests didn't take long and I was able to see the optometrist in a very reasonable time. She was professional and helpful and scheduled me to come back in a week to check and see how the new contacts are working. I am grateful for the personal attention. The only thing I had an issue with was the paperwork I had to fill out before being seen. I felt like there were questions that were totally irrelevant to having an eye exam. My former optometrist didn't require all the unnecessary paperwork. These questions would be pertinent if I was going to a regular doctor but not an eye doctor.
