This was our first time at the Storming Crab and it was definitely a unique dinning experience. My son got the chicken wings and fries and did not care for the chicken wings but liked the fries. My wife got the gumbo as an appetizer and loved it. I got the oysters and to be honest it was not the best I have gotten in Lexington. It kinda tasted like they were found in a creek out back instead of the ocean...š They weren't uneatable but they definitely needed alit of lemon, shrimp sauce, etc... As for the main course my wife and I got one of the combos with the full lobster with, clams, corn, crawfish and potatoes and this was definitely the saving grace of the experience at the restaurant! It was very good and we liked the fact you get to pick your seasoning and level of spiciness that you prefer. The unique way of serving the dish was clever as it was brought in a bag which you used when you left to take it home with you. I should mention they also give you an additional bag to make sure it doesn't leak. The one thing I would recommend for the restaurant would be to repaint over all the magic marker that they let the customers write everywhere. I know the look they were going for, the whole Florida at the beach but it has so much writing that it misses that theme and now just looks tacky. I will not go into detail with what was written in the bathroom with those markers but Shakespeare it was not...lol Overall the price was around 125.00 which was a little high for the quality and quantity of food we got. You could a better meal at Joe's Crab Shack at a lower cost but you would have to drive to Louisville or the Smokies for the closest one. In closing, would we come back? I would have to say I am undecided at the moment there are just so many restaurants in Lexington that we love and right now Storming Crab is in the like category not the...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreNOLA is crying. First time here and excited to try what seemed like a unique place. I love seafood and I'm from New England, but I've been to New Orleans a couple times in the last few years. I ordered basic stuff that helps me judge how good the food is, which I would do for any new-to-me place.
Our waitress was very nice & attentive, and the place was welcoming. The atmosphere was fine, maybe not uniquely Cajun themed, but certainly nautical with writing all over everything.
Clam chowder - runny, bland, little clam juice used in base, and when I thought I spooned a clam . . . Is potato. I think the clams were minced into sprinkle sized bites or my bowl got a very unfortunate ladle.
Grilled oysters were actually baked, swimming in soy sauce with a sprinkle of parmigiano. They were not clean, as I could see the murky water. One was bad enough.
Crayfish ettoufee - mild and I couldn't put my finger on the problem. At this point, I was already sad from the first two.
No concerns about the fried cod fish & hush puppies. The seafood bread was good & greasy when hot, I ordered a second round.
I don't blame the staff. I hope that the kitchen crew is able to go to New Orleans & New England, know what the food should taste like, learn the recipes, and improve their skills. Management should know better. They're quality control and leading...
