First off the actual park (where you park your car) is beautiful. It's in the woods. There is a creek running through it with multiple bridges. I actually saw a couple taking their engagement photos on one of the bridges. You walk under the main road. 101, Then there is the beach. It's so beautiful. Absolutely one of the most amazing tide pool spots I have ever been to. Thousands of starfish, sea anemones, urchins, and so much more. There actually were not as many people there as some of the other beaches. Which was really nice. The beach itself was clean. I saw people with little bonfires. The cliffs behind you (away from the ocean) are breathtaking. Huge with water coming down in some spots. My family and I were there for about 4 to 5 hours while the tide was going out. One bad thing is there was no running water in the park to wash yourself off. There is a spigot, but no water comes out. There are public restrooms. No showers that I saw. I would 100% recommend going...

Fogarty Creek State Park is very clean and well maintained. The picnic tables have seen some wear but are in fair condition. The parking lots are large, well lit, clean and easy to park in. Even when it's busy their is plenty of room for larger vehicles to park safely and turn around with ease. It has bathrooms on either side of the small waterway that splits that park in half. They are always stocked, clean and smell decent. The trashcans are never over flowing, leaving plenty of room to ensure you clean up after one's self. Find a foot path that heads west towards the ocean. You will see a bridge, proceed under HWY101 for beach access. It is a beautiful cove that keeps the wind down, providing a wonderful place to spend hours. Lots of families frequent here making it an easy place for children to enjoy the ocean. There is a lot to do. Such as, fishing, looking at the tide pools, climbing around on the rocks, looking for agates or simply enjoying the...

A great state Wayside and public park, on the Oregon coast. It is right near a motel and restaurant called the surftides, which has a staircase for easy access from above the cliff line to the park, as well. Creek empties into the ocean at this location, and the area around the creek is absolutely beautiful, and a great place for whale watching, lots of whale activity along Fogarty creek, and a little bit further south, is boiler Bay State Park, which is also a wonderful spot, with a high cliff line, to watch Wales as well. Slightly further to the South, is Depoe Bay, an excellent local port for fishing, sightseeing, and excursions as well as whale watching, with lots of shops, and restaurants located there. This is a very heavily touristed area, and is quite busy during regular seasonal tourist times of year. I guarantee you will love this area, should you...

One of the Oregon coast's best kept secrets is Fogerty Creek State Park. This gem has it all, tide pools, sandy beach, stunning waves, hermit crabs, and plenty of shells, seaweed , sea glass, driftwood and other ocean treasures tumbled in the surf and washed ashore with the tides. An excellent place to spend the day enjoying the beautiful ocean, usually without the crowds. There are two parking lots, one on the South, the other on the North side of the creek. Trails wander through the forest to the East from the South lot. The beach is accessible from both the North and South lots under highway 101. Look for the signs on the highway. Google maps sent me the wrong way North of the beach access I was looking for. Lots are on the East side of the highway in the forest, opposite the ocean.

Where's the lovely hike, you ask? There's no clear signage, so here's the deal: A steep service road heads south out of the south parking lot (between two enclosures). It leads about 1/2-mile through dense, picturesque forest to a water tower, and continues up into a logged area (technically outside the park, but accessible) that offers amazing views of the ocean with wildflowers like daisies and foxglove. The walk is steep in parts, but short, and easy terrain overall. In the woods you can see the stumps of the giants that once grew here. You can also, of course, cross under the highway to a terrific beach. There are lots of picnic tables with good privacy, along the path between the parking lots. But we were drawn here for an easy family hike, and were not disappointed.
