I trusted Yvonne with altering a $400 dress, and she charged me $350 for tailoring, nearly the full cost of the dress itself. For that price, I expected quality and durability. The alterations didn’t hold up even for a single wear.

Midway through the wedding I was attending, the top of the dress, specifically the neckline where she had made alterations, completely ripped off the dress. It was embarrassing, stressful, and totally avoidable had the tailoring been done properly. The stitches she used when she moved the buttons also came loose after just one wear. Again, this was the exact area she worked on.

When I reached out to her, she initially dismissed the issue, saying it was “just one stitch” that ripped the entire neckline from the dress, as if that minimized the problem. She acted like it wasn’t a big deal, even though it left me exposed and embarrassed during a formal event. Later, she completely reversed course and claimed she had never touched that part of the dress, despite having specifically explained during the fitting how she adjusted that exact area (completely ignoring the stitching on the buttons). She told me I should be grateful she took on the last minute job at all (a month before the event). At one point she even offered to fix the dress and buy it from me for $350 so she could resell it, which completely ignored the fact that I had paid her for a service that failed in its most basic function.

For luxury-level prices, you expect at least one successful wear. I cannot recommend this business. The experience was unprofessional, disappointing, and left me feeling dismissed and gaslit. I strongly encourage others to seek a tailor who stands by their work and treats clients with honesty...

If you're a bride looking for the best seamstress in NJ, Yvonne is the person for you. I had purchased my Size 14 wedding dress shortly after I had gotten engaged. I was on a health journey at the time & never expected to lose as much weight as I did. I went from a Size 14 to a Size 6. I searched in my area & NYC to find the right seamstress to handle the job. When I had found Yvonne, she immediately told me to bring the dress into her & she could help me. I had brought my dress to Yvonne last May in a panic that I would've been told that I needed a new dress since the standard rule-of-thumb is a dress cannot be taken in more than two sizes. With confidence & no hesitation in her, she pinned the dress up to my body & expressed her ideas, which is EXACTLY what I was thinking without saying it. All of my fear & anxiety disappeared when Yvonne took over. I felt comfortable in her hands & trusted her. Not only did I want my dress to fit, but I wanted a really tight, snatched look. I had began my fittings in the fall time and just picked up my dress yesterday. I'm not an emotional person, but I cried when I saw the final product & even driving home from picking up my dress in awe the work Yvonne did to my dress. Yvonne completely resized & redesigned the dress exactly how I envisioned it. She truly made my dreams come true for my wedding day. I looked on the internet for an expert tailor. The Elegant Seam popped up, I read the reviews, and it is local to where i live, so I made an appointment. Upon my arrival to the house, I admit I was a bit skeptical because it was not a building. However, once inside and after speaking to Yvonne for a few moments, I knew I picked the right expert. I had a ton of questions as my suits are not cheap. I always say, cheap does not mean good, and good is not cheap. My alternations were not cheap, but the price I paid was well worth the quality of workmanship I received. I had multiple fittings to ensure that the alternations were perfect. Yvonne actually told me how the suits should mold to me, and I just let her do what she does best. The final fitting and pick up was today and truly am thankful that I was able to find her. I did pay half up front and the rest when I picked up, but that was not an issue. I would refer friends and family to Yvonne. And that means a lot, because the suits are very expensive, and for that I feel the need to be picky. But that was A OK as I received exert advise.
