How you are in business is beyond me. You are rude and defensive when you were not even involved in the situation, nor did you come to my table. Like I said in my review I declined the new drink because it was DISGUSTING to serve someone a drink with food pieces. Also, I had a lovely day with my daughter and did not have issues walking into the diner. I took 2-3 bites of the lox and noticed something wrong. You didn’t look at the plate so don’t act like you did. The potatoes were redone which I mentioned was the only thing I was able to eat for lunch.
The waitress was NOT apologetic and did NOT try to make the situation better. She just took the lox away, didn’t offer a replacement and the next time I saw her was for the bill. Again, don’t speak on what you don’t know as you weren’t at my table.
Don’t worry, sir, I’ll swing by and tell you how I feel directly to you since you’re so unprofessional and petty. And call the other diners. Couldn’t care less and it won’t effect me one bit.
Awful experience. I went there for lunch today with my daughter and first, received an iced tea with bits of food floating around in it. The waitress wasn’t very apologetic but took it and offered me another which I declined because I was grossed out. Then, my lox Benedict tasted weird. I’ve had plenty of smoked salmon and have eaten it here before but it tasted overly fishy which isn’t normal. Then, my homefries were raw. Literally raw potato. It didn’t even look like anyone attempted to cook it. The waitress again wasn’t apologetic, had them remake the home fries and took the lox Benedict but didn’t offer a replacement meal so I ended up only eating a few bites of potato for lunch.
I ordered my daughter a ham, turkey and cheddar cheese sandwich. They put American instead and she kept spitting it out (that’s not like her). I ate half her sandwich and it was ok but the American cheese ruined it. The waitress was giving me excuses rather than making things right, and she wasn’t friendly or willing to make my experience better since it was a disaster through and through.
Then when I went to pay, the manager asked me for a tip and I declined and explained everything was bad but he said nothing. Just gave me the receipt. No apology or anything at all. This staff seems bothered by customers and couldn’t care less if something is wrong. I will never go back. Plenty of diners to choose from...
Read moreDiners are abundant in Jersey, but it's hard to find a good one. My fiancé and I were running errands in the area on MLK Jr. Day, so we were looking for a lunch spot. A quick Yelp search presented me with Kenilworth Diner with pretty good reviews. We got there at around 12:30 and we were in and out in less than an hour (thanks to the great service).
I ordered a patty melt, which comes with fries and a small thing of cole slaw. It was my first patty melt in life, and I really enjoyed it! I ordered it medium rare and that was exactly how it came out. I was going to swap the rye bread it came on for white but I'm glad I didn't because the rye was a great complement. My only complaint was that the bread had way too much butter on it, but that was my fault for not telling them to ease up on it beforehand. The sandwich was really filling, so I was only able to finish half. Fiancé had the crispy buffalo chicken wrap. He had the lunch special so this also came with fries, a bigger thing of cole slaw, and a French onion soup for a $1.50 upgrade. This might be the best $1.50 we've ever spent because the French onion soup was excellent. The cheese on top was nice and gooey and melty, and the soup itself had a great flavor and wasn't overly salty, like most French onion soups tend to be. I'm not a huge fan of buffalo chicken but he liked the wrap. He was also only able to finish half, so we had lunch for the next day.
The diner does smell a bit musty in the back section where we were sitting, so try to sit in the front if you can. Not a deal breaker though so I definitely want to come back and try some of...
