I contacted Lesslie Dressler(DeVry Admission) to express my interest in continuing my education in business. I also stress to her, my goal for funding the education. I was very clear in explaining to her that, I am applying for government financial aide, which will be the source of funding for my education, and that I was not expected to have a bill or debt once the courses was completed. My plan was to take advantage of student grants that was available to me, so that I would not have to come out of pocket or worry about having a student loan or debt hanging over my head. I applied for student financial aide and was approved. Lesslie had Student Central review my financial aids status, she then stated to me, that the goals that I had in mind for funding my education were realistic and obtainable. Somehow I let her swinder me into signing up for classes at DeVry University online. Things seem to be going well at first. I am a 51 year old African American male, that was proud to be going to school to further my education. But that euphoria came to a sudden end, things started to far apart real quick. It wasn't until I contacted Student Central to get help with some issues I was having regarding my academics; That is when I realize that Leslie had lead me down the wrong path of financial failure. I would call Student Central with questions about my learning , they seemed only to be concerned with the financial part of my involvement as a student with DeVry University, and not my academic question and/or concerns that I had contacted them for. This interaction with Student Central happened each times I contacted them, and that's what started my suspension. I then started asking question about my financial funding, and my true involvement with payment for the courses. It turn out that everything that Lesslie Dressler told me regarding my financial goals was all wrong. Apparently he told me those things just to get me to sign up for classes at DeVry University, so that she would generate money for her company. She never was concern for my academic goals for continuing my education. Her main purpose and goals as a admission advisor was to get me to sign up. Three weeks later, I withdraw from Devry University, about a month later, I received a bill from DeVry University for $1700. How can DeVry University justify sending a bill to me for only three weeks of attending online sessions, when the first week was nothing more of an introduction, and the following two weeks only requires the zoom meeting that took place on Mondays for two hours, and the cost of that through DeVry is $1700. I think the Department of Education would find this very...
Read moreThis review is strictly for professor Brett Winkelhake MGMT404. Not Devry University. The issue I have pertains to my overall experince with him not the course. My issue stems from one test in which I had failed to do in time. Due to the fact I work 2 jobs and have a full time dad position at home. I Immediately reached out to the professor in reagrads to reopening the the module. I kindly explained my situation and pleaded that it would not happen again. I just didnt want my grade to take such a hit. It being work alot of points. Mind you this is week 3, my other assignments all had recieved full points and my discussions were always up to if not exceeded the standard. I didn't hear back from the professor for 3 weeks putting us in week 6. He states he never read my plea in time, (3 weeks later) but now its too late. There is nothing he can do. My efforts were wasted on a course that I could have passed with an "A" but didn't all because "he didn't read it in time". He has been the only professor to not reopen a module for me in my 5 years at Devry. I am very displeased with my grade because I worked hard till now maintaning and growing my GPA and it will definitely take a hit with this "B" in his course which was MGMT404. I hope Devry replaces Professor Brett Winkelhake with a new professor, one that reads their email & comments in time and can make a legitamate and conscientiousness decision. Not just "didn't read it in time and theres nothing I can do about it." These are peoples grades and futures at stake. We deserve a chance to do the best we can. Up until now all my previous professors have been amicable when I would reach out and explain my situation, some points would be taken off but I would still get the chance to make it up. Not just "theres nothing I can do" What a idiotic answer coming from a Professor for that matter. All my efforts in his class are wasted to a "B" because he didn't see my plea in time. Below is proof I reached out in time and his response date. My grade should not have to suffer because his negligence. I'm very dissapointed with him. Professor Winkelhake MGMT404. DO BETTER!! STOP PLAYING WITH...
Read moreI strongly advise against attending DeVry University, as it has been an extremely disappointing experience and, in my opinion, one of the least reputable institutions in Chicago. As an online student enrolled in software development courses starting in October 2024, I encountered numerous issues that significantly impacted my education. The tuition and fees are excessively high for an online program, and I feel that the financial burden far outweighs the value provided. The coursework, while initially manageable, quickly became confusing and lacked adequate support. The professors demonstrated little genuine concern for students’ academic success, often offering superficial encouragement without meaningful guidance. Their primary focus appeared to be on mandatory discussion posts rather than fostering student understanding or engagement. The academic support system was equally inadequate. Tutoring services were ineffective, and the administration’s responses to concerns were dismissive, often resorting to generic platitudes about “staying focused” without offering tangible solutions. This lack of accountability and support made it nearly impossible to succeed. Enrolling at DeVry was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. The unprofessionalism and lack of care I experienced were unprecedented, and I deeply regret the time and money I invested. I strongly urge prospective students to avoid DeVry University, as it does not provide a worthwhile...
