My husband and I don’t get out very much, but we finally did and decided on white chocolate grill. While our server didn’t come off happy to be there we figured maybe she had a rough night so we made the best of it. We decided to order a bottle of wine and the ahi tuna appetizer. That took over 15 minutes to arrive and our waitress never stopped by to check, she did go to all the tables around us however and definitely seemed to avoid us. Our wine finally came and the server that brought it was friendly and chatted with us. Our actual waitress finally stopped by shortly after that and brought the ahi tuna. The tuna was good and we enjoyed it. Then we waited quite a while again, which seemed odd since the waitress who brought our wine said it was a slow night. After a while our food came. My husbands trout was very bland and his broccoli was over cooked. But it was date night and we were trying to keep happy. I ordered the balsamic ribeye medium rare. The edge seemed fine but after a bite or two I cut into the middle and it was well done. It took me over 10 minutes to get our servers attention to let her know the steak was cooked well done and I had ordered medium rare. She then took out her book and said she write medium, I said ok but I have always ordered medium rare and even if she put in medium it was well done. She came off very rude and annoyed I brought up my steak even. She took it back and walked back over shortly after and said “I am sure they will cover your meal.” Almost as though I complained to get a free meal. We went out expecting to pay for a nice meal. Not have a bad meal and terrible service. We’ll my husband decided to wait until my corrected steak came back. It took over another 15 min and my husbands food was cold by then and when mine was brought back they did not bring silverwear. The manager put it down said the steak was on them and tried to walk away. I then decided to inform him of the whole evening and the way he responded was not with concern but in a way where he wanted me to stop talking so he could just get away. I decided just to get my food boxed to go because me nor my husband wanted to be there any longer. The server was rude when I asked to get a to go box and the manager just seemed glad we were leaving. I would never recommend here. If it was an off night for the waiter ok, but even the chefs and the manager did not seem concerned or care with the quality of hospitality or service they put out. I emailed the restaurants after our experience with no response. So here I am. I never review or complain as I understand off nights happen, but this was just wrong and I wouldn’t want anyone else to waste a nice night or money here...
Read moreWe were so excited for a girls night out and dropped in for an early dinner before the lights at Morton Arboretum. There were 7 of us total and we got a booth with an extra seat at the end and we fit perfectly. Very cozy actually! The lights were a little dim but maybe a little too dim because a few people at the end of the booth seemed to be in the dark completely.
When we first walked in we were not greeted at all by the hostess they just stood there and looked at us. We told them about a reservation as we came in and everyone had kinda the same experience. The waitress we got was nice and very on top of things, sometimes rushing us in a way but our guess was maybe other people complained she wasn’t available enough so she was over compensating..it was a lot at first but we got used to it so no issue there.
For the food:
I had the Cajun chicken burger with rice. The burger was huge but very delicious! Had a lot of flavor and I really enjoyed it. 8/10
I also had a pomegranate martini and I enjoyed the drink, just wish the rim was salt instead of sugar. 6/10
My daughter had the balsamic ribeye and she loved it! She said it was juicy and flavorful and she finished it all :) 10/10
My friend ordered a salmon dish and when she got to the center it was really gummy looking and raw. She told the waitress and she just said “our salmon is cooked medium, all of our salmon is - do u want us to cook it more for u?” She took it back and they cooked the same piece of salmon my friend ate and brought it back. 1 - isn’t that unsanitary to continue to cook the same meat where other customers are getting their salmon after she already ate from it? She should’ve gotten a new salmon. 2 - I’ve never heard of a “medium” cook on a salmon. She got her meat back and it was still gummy looking - see the pic I posted. She ate around at the cooked salmon but left this on her plate. Btw at least 3 others got salmon at the table and they were all cooked though.
Overall it was a hit or miss with some of the dishes. Don’t think we’ll be back but it was a nice place...
Read moreThe reasoning for the low rating was just because of the main course. The service was amazing I can not complain about that at all.
For appetizer I had AZ Egg Rolls which by the way was a solid 5 out of 5 I recommend that any day. for my main course I had Parmesan Crusted Filet cooked medium rare with mash potatoes and steamed broccoli. Here is where the evening took a turn. The steak was bland no flavor and was dry. The only thing that was giving the steak any flavor was the cheese t had on top. but if you removed the cheese it was just straight up mean with no flavor. It did not even taste like it had any salt or pepper on it at least. For a steak that cost $50 I do believe it is a rip off and you're better of getting a more tasty steak at cheese cake factory. The broccoli was the second nightmare because it was just as bland as the steak. There was no flavor no butter, no salt, no pepper nothing. To make it worst it was served cold and di not taste fresh. It tasted frozen. For a side item that's $5 should be a problem. But to add on to the issue I had maybe 3-4 pieces of broccoli for $5. That's just simply unacceptable. Again I feel I would have gotten more bang forty buck at cheese cake factory.
For desert I was really hoping to have that make my evening a lot better but it was worst. I had the White Chocolate Brownie. Lets all be honest here its hard to mess up desert. But leave it up to the White Chocolate Grill to find a way to mess it up. The browny was bland. again no flavor! The only thing trying to give it some type of a life line was the ice cream and the heavy amount of chocolate syrup.
Over all this place really needs to improve on flavor. The atmosphere here was noisy very loud a small lobby white piles of people surrounding the lobby. It was difficult to get in and out. It was a true fire hazard honestly. The scenery was dark. almost way too dark to even read the menu. I will personally not be coming back to The White Chocolate Grill. as for the money and experience I'm better off in many...
