House Of Brides & Tuxedo — Attraction in Lomita

This is the first online review I have ever made but this company is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I felt compelled to help others avoid all the problems I had to deal with. First I was the best man in my brothers wedding and had no choice but to use this company. The tux I rented was $140 w/o shoes and was the cheapest tux I have ever tried on. Not being able to get down there I went to Men's Warehouse to get my measurements and sent it to her. Once the tux came in 2 days before the wedding she told me if I didn't get down there I was not able to make alterations. I was forced to leave work early on Wed and drove 2 hours to finally arrive at her shop in Torrance. I was pressed for time and I was supposed to be in a rehearsal / dinner that evening in Anaheim. Unfortunately she was out to lunch and was late to come back by 40 mins. When she finally showed up I tried on the tux and all the measurements were wrong and off by 1" +. She then proceeded to make the alterations on the pants and jacket while I waited and they still didn't turn out right. I had no choice but to accept and leave so I could try to show up on time to the rehearsal. After a 1 1/2 hour drive in the worst traffic possible I missed the rehearsal and had to just show up to the dinner. From this point on the wedding went well and upon return of the tux, 3 weeks later I get a surprise charge of $100 in my account. Whats this? A late fee because I wasn't able to return it the next day. She called me and harassed me about the money because I blocked my acct. Maggie is so rude she also charge my other brother that came all the way down from Texas. He is in the Army and just got deployed to Jordon and was not able to fight this charge. Low and behold she somehow still was able to charge my card and threatened me several times with suing me if she did not get the money. I hope she is happy with the extra money and the horrible review she is going to get from me. If there was a way to give her negative stars I would. Maggie at House of Brides and Tuxedo is hands down the best around. She has 25 years of dress making experience, so I felt comfortable with hiring her to do my wedding dress alterations. She went above and beyond expectations and she is truly a skillful seamstress. After going to several shops in the area, I knew almost immediately that Maggie and House of Brides and Tuxedo was the place for me. Her shop is charming and she has wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, mother of the bride/groom dresses, tuxedos/suits, plus accessories available in store to try on, sample and purchase. She took my wedding dress in several sizes at the bust, waist and hips, fixing the waist stay, she added lace details onto my over skirt and created sleeves with more lace detail for my wedding dress. I had purchased my dress at a different bridal shop many months before meeting or ever knowing about Maggie’s shop, then I lost weight. The alterations options the other shop gave me weren’t to my standards or expectations and were grossly overpriced. So I found Maggie and she quoted me much more fairly. She always handled my items with care with much attention to detail and was very quick! After Maggie was done my dress was perfect! It fit like a glove and looked seamless, as if it never needed altering in the first place. She even handled some last minute dress alterations for my mom. She made sure we were all happy. My mom and I was actually planning to go to 2 different bridal stores in Torrance and this store was one of them. Unfortunately, this store was going to open at 11; therefore, we thought of going to the other one first. But for some reason, I felt I needed to wait for this shop to open and I had to go here. I am soooooo glad I did! In my opinion, I feel like it was meant to be (with my instinct and with God guidance!) because I found a dress!!! I actually had a dress already; however, it did not meet my expectations. It was a cute dress; however, I believe I was rushed to get that dress by the consultant. In other words, I did not have the bridal moment when I wore that dress because I didn't even say YES to it. When I saw the dress at this particular store, I DEFINITELY felt that bridal moment! I did try 2 dresses before it; however, third one was the charm!!

Ms Maggie is the BEST person ever! She was an AWESOME store owner & consultant! I told her what I was looking for and she gave me ideas and showed me examples.

I appreciate what she did to help me out and made me feel like a very important person! When we got to the store, it was noisy and under construction; however, she still helped me out 100%! I'm also appreciative that she was caring about me being on a budget on my upcoming November wedding! What she told me, "if your happy, I'm happy!" Made me feel that going to her store first was the right thing to do!!
