Gondola Getaway — Attraction in Long Beach

On Friday May 28th, I reserved time here with my fiancé. I thought he was going to think it was corny, but he LOVED it and so did I! It was a holiday weekend, and we were able to snatch one open spot and even though we were extremely late, our escort Logan was kind to us. He could tell we were stressed and had a lot in our mind...mainly because everything was last minute...my fiancé not leaving when we are suppose to, he tried to cancel our date/his bday experience, we had to find a hotel that same day because he didn't agree to any place I selected...stressful. ANYWAYS, Logan was very relaxed, caring, and even SANG! I was surprised. He knew exactly what would set the mood and sang right when we got to the bridge where the acoustics were perfect. When we were about to leave, my fiancé dropped our car keys in the ocean! One of the Gongola men changed right away and dived in more than 10x to try to retrieve it in 10-15 feet deep water. These men definitely went above and beyond for us. We tipped both men. They were great. Aside from our personal situations, what makes the Gondola Getaway so great is that you can bring your own food and drinks. They will give us ice and help set up the scene that we have for the trip. I will be doing this again. We were only in Newport Beach, but I just loved my Long Beach experience. I lived in Long Beach for a couple of months before, but I had never seen it from this view. We came to Gondola Getaway for my sister’s surprise birthday party! 🥳This was a extremely hot summer day! I purchased our tickets and food online. The food is prosciutto and cheese. We decided to bring wine 🍷 and crackers.

Rachel greeted me when I walked up and explained our tour which is a hour long tour. She also told me about the blanks for our usage aboard the gondola if we got cold. Not in this heatwave. 😊 She asked if we needed to put anything on ice while we wait on our Gondolier to return. She had a relaxing vibe that affectionately welcoming. She is the best person for this job.

Our Gondolier was Jos and he was amazing. Jos had our finger food and drink with cups in hand. We were a group of six. He is very knowledgeable about the area. He has an amazing voice as he sang happy birthday to my sister under the bridge. Josh shared with us some of history of Naples Canal. As he rowed through the canals. He chatted with us as if we were good friends. We had our Italian music playing and some of the homeowner greeted us as he rowed through the canal. 🥰 This was such amazing relaxing vibe.

I booked a ride with Gondola Getaway as a surprise for my wife's birthday and it was a fantastic experience. I booked the time slot of 6 to 7 and it was a perfect day with only a slight breeze and clear skies. Going through the canals of Naples was so calm and peaceful, and during golden hour right before sunset was amazing.

Our gondolier, Josh, was great and super friendly. He talked just enough to give us little tidbits and trivia about various parts of the Naples islands but didn't talk so much that it took away from the romantic and serene quality of the ride.

The ability to bring your own drinks and have an ice bucket and cups provided was great. My wife and I shared a bottle of champagne as we snuggled up under the provided blanket that was super soft and warm. I did spring for the extra 'Appetizer' add-on but was disappointed that the "Cheese, meats, and salad" turned out to be a pretty boring antipasto salad rather than a charcuterie of some kind, and there were no "Italian breadsticks" offered like advertised. However, the experience was so great that even that letdown did not detract and I will not be lowering my score because of it.

My wife and I can't wait to go back and do another ride, and we are even thinking of getting some friends together to do the Pizza and Pasta Cruise that is offered. If you are looking for a romantic activity to do with a special someone, I highly recommend Gondola Getaway as it is one of the more unique and enjoyable experiences...
