I brought my brothers pup here probably 3x per week when we got him in 2017 and the owners and dogs we encountered were always as good as it gets. Now I’ve brought my own 4 month old pup here about 2x per week for the last month and while the park is still incredibly well maintained and as clean as a dog park can be, too many of the owners and the dogs that come here are absolute trash. Just now this lady with a full grown husky took her dog in right after he growled and showed signs of aggression at my pup before we even got into the park. I was trying to work with my pup on walking on leash so they got in before us and before we even got into the park the husky was in a fight with a Great Dane. I’ve seen that Great Dane there multiple times and while every dog has encounters every now and then, he always runs around being a dog. The owner is good and immediately took his dog out of the park, but of course the husky stayed.
Then when I got in another dog immediately ran up to my pup and started to attack him within seconds. The owner just sat there until I her to pull my dog off and shove his to the ground. They the owner grabbed his dog by the collar and slapped him in the head. Do you wonder why your dog is aggressive there buddy?
So I held my dog back for a second to see if everything would settle and the second I let him go, a friend of the other dog started to go after him.
Last time I came here my pup started playing with a ball and another dog tried to take it from him. But my dog didn’t want to play tug and ran away. The other dog just wouldn’t leave him alone and when my pup tried to back him off, the dog got aggressive and they got in a fight, which I broke up before anything happened because this park is trash and I have stories like this about almost every time I’ve come here. Of course, the other owner wouldn’t believe that her angels did anything wrong.
I’ve heard nothing but bad things about Redondo but the only bad thing that’s ever happened to me there is another dog picked my pup up by the collar and tried to play with him like a toy, and I go there 3x per week. It’s dirty and there are fleas, but I still recommend it...
Read moreDefinitely one of my favorite dog parks for small dogs for big dogs meh I hear a lot of fighting over there you have your regulars that come in with their aggressive dogs seems to usually be the same culprits. As well as in the small dog park but it's not as bad there because you just pick up your dog. The good thing is the security is there most of the time and they will usually step in if people complain about an aggressive dog especially if they witness the commotion, security will have them leave. It's only open till sunset sometimes before that depending on when the guards want to lock the gates. There's usually parking nearby on surrounding streets if it's not farmers market etc. That's the only dog park I take my dog to now. she's under 25 lb which is the weight limit for the small dog park. I love Playa Vista it's very easy to make other doggy friends there and I find it a little bit more accountable then other dog parks. Because it's such a small town there's more accountability which I can appreciate. There are as I said people that don't live there that go there and can be quite jerks but they're not regulars usually and since it is such a small town you can get chased out pretty quickly if you misbehave. That's what I mean by accountability. I highly recommend this park for small dogs and for large dogs I recommend if there's only a few dogs there as when it gets busy that's when I noticed the fights start I think big dogs need a...
Read moreI love this dog park, but I have a concern about a security officer. I don’t know of another forum to share my concern. If anyone has some idea about who to contact about Playa Vista park safety, please send them this link or let me know.
I realize that this is a terrible photo, but I was honestly afraid of getting closer. This (security?) personnel was loudly shouting to no one in particular: “Fking people can’t follow the fking rules” over and over while kicking posts and walking around the soccer field next to some kids. He then went to sit on the bench by the Playa Vista Bluff Creek small & large dog parks (the ones with artificial turf and hills). When I looked his way, he glared at me. The date is Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 12:00 noon. I was leaving the enclosed dog park when I heard him yelling on the soccer field, where he continued to walk to the bench just outside the dog park entrance gates. Even though the picture is questionably valuable, someone might recognize the jacket logo and match that with his scheduled work time.
Sure, some park patrons might be annoying, but someone with his volatile temperament should not be working in security, especially near kids, no matter what he was...
