We went here because friends of ours had been here before. We get here and were greeted by the hostess welcoming and showed us to our table. The waitress brings out chips salsa and another dipping sauce that was really good I think it was a bean/salsa dip warm. And we asked for a spicier one. Which was not that spicy at all. When it came time to order our drinks someone Im our group wanted a pineapple margarita the waitress said they were out of fresh pineapple and that they only had pineapple juice and that she would try to see if they had any left. It turned out that they had some left after all. Someone else order a coffee they just brought out the coffee with the sugar and sweeteners. She stated that they were out of creamers. We asked if they possibly had milk she said she would see if they did she would bring some out. By the the time we got the milk the coffee was cold ,to top it off it did not taste fresh. She said she would brew a new bash for us but we declined and asked for a strawberry lemonade instead. Mind you that's only the drink order. Someone order the Tortilla soup and it was not what a Tortilla soup Normally taste like it was more of a child soup with a lot of extra fat on the side. I took one sip of it and did not like it. We asked her to take it of the bill. We order a 2 burrito with cheese inside when we got them only one burrito had cheese inside the other one the cheese was on top. We let the waitress know of that as well. Other than that the food was great and the service too. But not before we get ready to walk out and get validation for our parking the hostess said "the machine is broken today, you can get it validated at the theater or use the call box" and this point we walked out and excuses ourselves.of course after paying. We were there a few minutes after opening you would think they would have everything they need for the day. I understand that everyone is short staffed under staffed but make an effort to have things run smoothly so you customer have a great experience. I would go back but maybe later in the day. Hopefully my experience is better then

*Delayed post from April ‘25 My experience at this Mexican restaurant left a lot to be desired. While the environment gives an upscale feeling and the menu is vast, the quality of the food, service and overall experience was only slightly better than mediocre. It felt more like a big chain restaurant than a unique Mexican spot. Their complimentary tortilla chips were really delicious and I appreciated that they were whole, so you know exactly how much you're eating. I also enjoyed the salsa, which was smoky and spicy, tasted freshly made, and wasn't too chunky. We also had the grilled corn, which was great with the creamy sauce and fun to watch them cut in front of us, though it hurt to see so much corn left on the cob. The Shrimp Dorado Taco at $11 was a disappointment. While the size was slightly larger than your typical street taco and the chipotle sauce had a nice kick, there was hardly any shrimp (3?) and the mango salsa was off. The pieces were way too small, almost minced, and they didn't taste ripe, so there was no sweetness to balance the spice and salt. The Short Ribs Barbacoa had super tender beef that fell apart easily, but it was very salty and really needed the sweet potato, which was caramelized with sugar, to help neutralize. The rice and beans were nothing special and the guacamole didn't have enough lime in it. The tortillas for this also didn't seem homemade, but rather a stereotypical supermarket purchase. The toppings were nice to have on the side as options however.

We came to eat at Sol while visiting the LA area. We ordered the naked guacamole and a margarita to start, and the wagyu steak and shrimp quesadilla as the entrees. First impression was that the service was incredibly slow. It took at least 10 minutes to get chips and salsa. The chips are more of a tostada as they are tortillas that are not cut into smaller pieces, and are served with both a bean dip and salsa. My margarita arrived about 10 minutes after that and we still did not get our guacamole, so we asked the waitress if it was coming. Once the food finally arrived, they presentation was beautiful. It wasn't until about 5 minutes after the food came that they brought the guacamole which pretty much went to waste at that point. The food was good but really too many flavors going on and the sides take away from the main course. The wagyu steak was delicious but we ordered it medium and it was definitely rare in the center and well on the outside. The shrimp quesadilla was also tasty but also was overspiced. Mexican food is one of our favorites so it wasn't a matter if not being accustomed to spicy food, this was just too overpowering. Maybe this place could do better, but it was just OK especially for the price of the food. I don't know that we would come back again.

Soo disappointed with my experience here last night. As a neighborhood local who comes here often I am sad to say that I’m completely turned off at the service of this place. It’s unfortunate because the atmosphere and food are nice and what have kept me coming back. Last night while waiting for a table I went to the bar to order two passion fruit mezcal margaritas. (I have ordered these many times in the past) I guess on the menue it is referred to as a “mezcalero “ (a $15 cocktail) I figured the bartender would just know what talking about. Silly me right? The bartender comes back with two regular looking margaritas…I assumed he missed the part where I said the passionfruit one on the menue 🧐 he looked confused and said there was not one with passionfruit, so I had to go back and find it and show him. So then he says, “oh ok honest mistake” he pulls out the passionfruit and mixes it then proceeds to come back with a tab reading $104.00. For 2 MARGARITAS!!! Excuse me sir are you joking??? I proceeded to tell him that I was not going to pay $104 for 2 margaritas. And might I add at no point was I rude or anything toward this person, I myself have worked in the serrvoce industry for 12+ years, so I do my best to treat others as I would like to be treated… obviously this bartender does not stand by that golden rule…So at this point we had to get a manager involved. I explained the situation so she went ahead and gave me the drinks that had been made and comes back with a tab of $47 — at this point I had been sitting at the bar for over 10 minutes trying to get my drinks. I’m mad at this point but I just pay the tab and go sit down to wait for the table. The tab for 2 mezcalero drinks would be $30 plus tax… not $47 …I’m so so so turned off by this shady business. That bartender should be FIRED…he did not try to upsell me, he straight tried to steal $70 out of my pocket for a tip, and the manager should have given me the drinks I ordered for the price that is advertised. I cannot express how angry this kind of...

Service was terrible the first time I came.

The other couple of times I have gone, its still pretty bad. I dont understand how restaurants FAIL in this department. Its pretty easy to hire friendly people, especially the hosts who start the experience off and give the first impression.

If the food wasnt good, this place would get a one star....

Parking is the paid lot but you can get it validated and save you the cash, 1.5 hours will run you about $6.00.

The place is pretty busy but they have a great selection of food, a pretty good happy hour and some pretty tasty Mexican American food.

With your meal you will get a chips and a nice spicy salsa as well as a black bean salsa which is delightful

Appetizers... Get the Corn, it comes with this cheesy, salty, chipotely loveliness all over it. mmmm

Tacos Expensive but well worth it. If you want to cheap out you could easily get the Carnitas which are on the happy hour and come in a pair, and/ or get the Canarditas Duck tacos. These come on the bone deep fried duck leg confit with a side of tortillas. A lot of work but they are good.

Fish Taco Gobernator is pretty good especially if you want something a bit more healthy.

Volcanes Velveeta Taco si bomb!!!!

I HIGHLY Recommend the Taco Vampiro, lots of cheese, lots of flavors going on with Chipotle Aioli.

Shrimp Taco Dorado is really good, very refreshing.

Ive been meaning to try a burrito but the tacos are so good, I cant resist.

2 of the regular "fancy" tacos are more than enough to fill you up. I usually get three tacos because I LOVE FOOD and LIFE IS SHORT!

I really wish they would do something about the attitude of the hostesses as well as giving their servers a pep talk to great a fun atmosphere because this place really deserves five stars. Also, they need to stop segregating the happy hour people. I order off both menus but....

IF YOU ORDER FROM THE HAPPY HOUR MENU..... you have to wait to be seated in a separate area. Ive almost walked out because it took too long...
