Don’t Recommend. The customer service from the cashier Xavier was excellent. He had a great attitude and smile! We ordered the grilled grass fed steak plate and the steak and shrimp plate. 0/10 for both. The grilled steak came rare and although some people eat it that way, I don’t. I asked the guy who brought it out if it was possible for them to cook it longer. He told me that they wouldn’t take it back but he could prepare a side of steak for me more thoroughly cooked. What a nice guy. At this time I still hadn’t received the side salad I ordered so I went to tell Xavier the cashier that the salad didn’t come out and I’d like that and the steak could be canceled at this point. Even though I already paid for it I just didn’t want it anymore. When I got back to my table the guy running food came over with a salad. I let him know that I just told Xavier about that salad. Oops! But surely didn’t need two salads so I said I hope you’re able to cancel it. I saw this guy talking to, a tall older man with glasses working in the back and I could see him throw his hands up in frustration. Tom decided to leave the back and come deliver the second salad himself. He approached the table and said here’s the salad you said you didn’t get then he looked at the salad I already had on the table. I apologized and tried to explain but I could tell he was upset and he said salads usually come out last. How was I suppose to know that, but okay. Fast forward I’m eating my side of mashed potatoes and I feel something thick and not very potato like IN MY MOUTH. I take it out and it’s paper. Paper in the potatoes. Tom makes his way back outside to I guess overlook the patio and I get his attention to come over. Just so I can let him know there was paper in the potatoes. He comes over after talking on his mic and before I could even get a full sentence out about the paper in my potatoes he says “that’s just how it is, that’s the receipt that’s usually on the side of the plate” he kept cutting me off to say this and also asked what i wanted him to do about it. I expressed to him that I didn’t want anything extra and the paper wasn’t just on the side it was IN MY MOUTH which means it was mixed into the potatoes. Tom isn’t a great listener and he’s not very friendly. The shrimp was undercooked. This place wasn’t a good experience outside of the house salad. I would NOT recommend this...
Read moreUrban Plates as a chain is great. This location has been less thrilling to go to because of parking. 10 min take out spots outside, or ramp inside. First floor almost always dominated by whole foods customers. The service is far slower here because of the tremendous amounts of delivery orders.
The food is consistently great. I love the beef mushrooms with mashed potatoes bowl. They used to have the best meatloaf, but it's non meatloaf now. The side dishes of vegetables are really really great. The other proteins are available are pretty decent as well. You can get plates bowls or soups and great desserts. The chocolate torte and hummingbird cake are excellent. Hummingbird cake is like carrot cake minus the carrots add in pineapple and add in more of a cinnamon flavor. It's really good.
The one thing I don't like about the food at this place is the bread yet I always request because I love bread. It has grill marks but it's done obviously on a propane type grill because the bread tastes like the gas used. Consistent and it is very strong in that taste it doesn't seem very healthy to be putting into your body. I always order it but take a bite and then say no I can't do this.
The staff is very friendly. You can pay with card or cash. You can order there and eat inside the restaurant or you can order delivery through doordash, or you can order online and pick it up.
They have daily meals that cost $11 or you can get one of the regular meals that have more food, too large for me, off the menu. They also have a program where you can pay I don't know what the prices but 10 bucks or 11 bucks a month and all of the meals are $11 or less. Not bad if you eat there regularly.
Good place to go to, healthier when comparing with other home cooked American restaurants. Lots of menu options. Quality consistent at each location, the menu can vary slightly from location to location. Online menu very accurate to the days selections at...
Read moreAs a regular patron of Urban Plates for nearly a year, my loyalty was initially rooted in their promise of healthy meals. Unfortunately, my recent experiences, particularly the last one, have led me to decide not to return.
Service quality has been consistently mediocre to poor. Despite the cafeteria-like setup, there is a 3% surcharge to "support employees" and an expectation for tips, which feels unwarranted given the minimal service provided. Even with a $20 minimum wage and increased prices, the restaurant repeatedly fails to accurately fulfill straightforward orders.
For Plate Pass members like myself, the inability to customize meals via the app necessitates ordering in person, negating the app's convenience. I have submitted feedback about this multiple times, including to the Owner, but never received a response. On my latest visit, the cashier, after scanning my Plate Pass, charged me the regular price. She realized the mistake, called over the manager, and inaccurately accused me of not scanning my pass. I was refunded the difference in cash, yet received no apology for the mix-up or the accusation.
Further diminishing my view of the restaurant, I and other patrons were once offered a free cookie in exchange for a 5-star Yelp review—a tactic that questions the authenticity of their customer ratings.
The establishment is typically empty, contradicting claims of its popularity. The "healthy" food, which I found to be high in sodium and other undisclosed ingredients, has left me feeling unwell after dining recently.
This pattern of errors and the latest incident involving the cashier's false accusation and lack of accountability are clear indicators that it's time for me to find better dining alternatives that uphold transparency and...
