Quarter Sheets truly was worth the hype to me. Detroit style isn't exactly my favorite style of pizza, but I was wow'd by each of the slices I tried (definitely recommend going with at least 1 other person to try as many slices as possible). We started with one of the seasonable appetizers, Wesier Melon salad, which was such a unique and refreshing salad to start things off: slightly pickled Persian cucumbers paired with perfectly ripe Weiser farm melons (IYKYK), some kind of a mild vinegar dressing (what they call piña sauce) and seasoned off with toasted sesame seeds (vaguely reminiscent of za'atar). It was the perfect mix of savory citrus + sweetness from the melon. As for the pizzas we ordered 1 slice of the Red Top, Polish Riviera (the only one not pictured), Sicilian Corner and Tomato Slice (basically everything with the exception of the pepperoni slice). Simply phenomenal. The red top + tomato slice were similar and simple. The tomato sauce really got to shine in both slices and you can really taste the freshness and sweet tanginess of the tomatoes. The crust was perfectly fluffy on the inside and had just the right amount of crisp on the outside. The real stars of the show, however, were both the Polish Riviera and Sicilian Corner. The cured lemon and pistachio pesto from the Polish Riviera were so well executed and contributed to such a unique flavor profile. I've been dreaming about it since. The. Sicilian Corner is just as good as people say it is, and is a can't miss here. It's all about the dough/crust here and the sweet peppers really sealed the deal for me. It has a bit more of a sourdough crust and is then finished off with a coating of sesame seeds, which adds a bit more nuttiness to the dough to compliment the sourdough. No notes, just try it for yourself.
For dessert, you'd be a fool for not trying Hannah Ziskin's slice of Princess Cake. If you've never tried Princess Cake, then you've come to the right place to have it for the first time. If you're a fan of Princess Cake, then I'd be shocked if you didn't agree that this is the textbook definition of what a Princess Cake should taste like. 10/10.

Read moreStepping into this effortlessly cool pizza joint where the old-school vibe lets the food take center stage. While their pizzas are quite good, they are merely a prelude to the sensational desserts crafted by their wildly talented pastry chef and co-owner. My timing was spot-on, arriving about an hour after opening on a Thursday meant a bar seat after a short wait.
Starting with the seasonal weiser melon salad is a choice I’d make again. The melon was crisp and sweet, accompanied with persian cucumber and sprinkled with coriander and sesame. The piña sauce added a tropical twist.
Then came the pizza lineup. Each slice is distinct in its own right, yet formed a quasi pizza ensemble. The sicilian corner, with its sweet peppers, sausage, pecorino, and chili oil, balanced atop mozzarella with a toasted crust crackling with flavor. The bianca slice was the sleeper hit—the freshness of the sungold tomatoes brought a garden-like quality and paired with a pistachio pesto. The red top was as classic as it gets with mozzarella, red sauce, and a basil flourish, while the pepperoni slice, topped with grana, mozzarella, and sauce, delivered that familiar, beloved comfort with a crispy edge (though a bit more pepperoni wouldn’t hurt).
Now to the star—princess cake. I heard the hype, but as someone who isn’t exactly a “cake person” I was unprepared for how good this was. The olive oil chiffon soft as clouds, the mascarpone chantilly whipped super light, and the raspberry preserves tasted like they’d just come from a berry field. Wrapped in almond marzipan, it had me savoring every last bite, and in no time, my plate was empty. It was quite simply one of the best desserts I’ve had in some time.
It may be known for its pizza, but the desserts set it apart. This gem could easily pull you back just for its sweets, even if you didn’t start as a dessert enthusiast. The pizza is an absolute delight, but the dessert euphoria is the memory you take home and share with others. Add in super friendly service and an unpretentious vibe, and you’ve got a place you’ll want to return to—for dessert, at...
Read moreFinally decided to bite the bullet and make a reservation to try this place out. Honestly I find it ridiculous to have to make reservations to eat pizza at a dingy corner spot in Echo Park but here we are.
The location feels slapped together. It’s nothing to write about. Gives more of a pop up vibe than something lived in and authentic. You notice it with the random silverware and chairs.
Food: Not bad. Very flavorful sauces. Though I’d would say the meatballs were barely holding together. They needed some firmness to them otherwise it tasted like a barely held together ball of ground meat. The meat itself was good but didn’t have much flavor. That or the sauce just overpowered it. We kept one meatball on the plate just so we could spoon the sauce on some of the slices. The “garlic bread” that comes with these are really just another slice of pizza with cheese which was delicious but also very salty. It’s gonna be a theme.
People joke about the gluten and that’s normal, but the sodium intake should be the concern! Some of these slices just come off as way too salty. The cheese is great and I think bring the perfect amount of saltiness so it doesn’t require much from the rest of the ingredients other than balancing out the flavors. I love salt. But even I was like damn this is salty!
The sauces are a bit more on the sweeter side but I personally like that. And because of this we used it to offset the salt from some of the slices.
They ran out of their famous Princess Cake as I ordered it. But our waiter didn’t really seem to move with any purpose. Kinda felt like he was done for the night and wanted to rush us to order. But was clearly so friendly with the neighboring party.
Would probably not dine in again but would order for pick up for sure. To be frank, I don’t like too much hassle to get my pizza. These slices are delicious so I’d much rather just order ahead and...
