My bf and I feel lucky to have had Del Mor as our landing spot when we moved to LA. We knew, like, three of our neighbors and one of them was Brent who owns Revenge Fantasy Cycle which was the bike shop under our apartment. He's awesome. Everyone living in the building pretty much keeps to themselves and no one really complains about noise. It's a huge building but you will hear dogs howling as you move throughout- My dog was included in this group of separation-anxiety ridden dogs and this is part of the reason I am thankful that everyone was pretty understanding and cool with normal city noises.
Del Mor provided us with a movable AC but we used it once and stored it away because it took up too much precious space in our teeny 1-br. We were on the 2nd floor (Delta side above bike shop) and luckily our unit kept pretty cool w/o AC.
That being said, there are only two two-bedroom apartments in this building. The one bedroom was fine when my boyfriend and I saw it without any furniture. I hope you have a twin bed because we barely fit our queen and a dresser into our bedroom. Please keep in mind your closet space because, depending on the type of couple you are (if moving in w/ someone else), your year lease might turn a bit hellish. Our one tiny closet did not cut it for us. Another remark I must make is that when my boyfriend and I viewed the apartment, we were not made aware that on the other side of the kitchen were the dumpsters. Our kitchen had windows facing what was (unknown to us until we moved in) the alleyway with dumpsters. Yup, dumpsters right under our kitchen window, dumpsters right across from our kitchen. Dumpsters that overflowed from both Del Mor and Cookbook. If you are unlucky enough to be in that apartment, good luck opening your kitchen windows in the summer. The stench of moldy food in the summer heat is vile.
You must also be warned that Del Mor shows what looks like a charming brick courtyard in online photos. I wish you could smell pictures because this courtyard is where every tenant with a dog takes their dog to urinate and defecate. It smells like hot, hot, pee, especially on sweltering summer days. Not everyone picks up their dog's poop either, which is disgusting and inconsiderate. In this courtyard, Del Mor also shows a bike rack making a possible future tenant think that they can secure their bikes there- Think again. My bike was at Revenge Fantasy for servicing and when I finally decided to pick it up, I hesitated locking it up in Del Mor's courtyard bc I had a weird feeling. Ran into two neighbors who told me both their bikes got stolen and people get into the "secure" courtyard all the time. Cops obviously did nothing about it, because, ummm LA.
One last thing- the strnch, oh the STENCH that came from our bathroom sink. It was HORRIBLE and constant. I smelled it every time I walked past the bathroom. Tried pouring boiling hot water and a full gallon of bleach down that thing SEVERAL TIMES and it did not go away.
Alondra and Cristina (no longer w/ Del Mor- she left right before we did) in the office were always pretty responsive. The cleaning crew was also great. We had our ups and downs living here and Del Mor gave us a year of memories- Some good but also some bad. Thank you Del Mor; we wouldn't do it a...
Read moreWorst apartment building I've ever lived in. We moved in and there was a broken window, and the hot water didn't work. Some of our doors didn't close inside of the unit. The concrete floors in the kitchen aren't polished so they get super dirty super fast. No dishwasher. Disgusting overflowing dumpster in the outdoor common area. Not uncommon to see rats near the garbage. A couple of our windows wouldn't stay open unless propped open. Bad management... we had to run down building manager to get our mail and security deposit back. They told us they wouldn't increase the rent, then they increased the rent a month later anyway. There's no AC, and the unit they do provide you hardly cools down the apartment. It's a walk up. Oh and did I mention it's extremely expensive? Total ripoff... I'd recommend...
Read moreI have lived in the building for 17 years. The management is communicative, knowledgeable and friendly. I find they truly care about issues in the building and are personally kind and helpful. My recent work order was taken seriously and finished professionally . Jorge and Kevin responded and executed work efficiently , as did the other...
