Griffith Park is truly one of the most special places in our expansive city of over 400 square miles. We have the distinction too of being one of the few major cities of the world that is divided by a mountain range. Views from the top of Mt. Hollywood, on a clear day, include the full panorama of our beautiful city strectching from the nearby mountains and valleys to the distant shores of the beach cities and even Catalina Island sometimes! Definitely a manageable hike worth taking. Oh yes, BTW, the park also is the residence of many wild animals, including coyotes, deer, and the world's most famous mountain lion too, who was once photographed at night with the Hollywood sign behind him. Read moreDuring Corona at Sunset... trail is usually empty. However during my visit it was a bit busier than usual. People kept their distance, but most were not wearing a mask. Parking is the probably worst part, since you have to park in a residential street. Watch out for red flag warnings. If so, no parking on the other side of the street. Since the hike took place during the late afternoon, the street surrounding the golf area connecting to the trail is completely dark, so take a flashlight, or head lamp when coming back down.
