DO NOT Read the fake reviews from the staff below but PLEASE DO READ THE ONE STARS ONES here - where they have complained so much about the current team here just changed the quality of service drastically for last couple years til now and they lose many customers to Blue Bottle and Starbucks just around the corner not bothering to come back. I have to review here because this is unacceptable anymore. They charged me more for extras but when I received it it was the wrong drink and didnt say apologies or anything but an attitude and another wrong drink, with excuses like "you should have told us!". Unbelievable. This is not the quality what it used to be before 2020.
Ive been a long time 15 year customer to the cafe but they then changed the managers and now they speak so loud in Spanish like commenting on customers, talking behind the back of customers they dont like and laughing at them SO LOUD especially at some odd ones like those they dont like - which is so off vibe as it used to be awesome and kind.
I feel like they recruited only friends and families of the managers with no diversity or inclusion at all of staff body so the service went down so bad as they have been covering up for all complaints from customers and faking all the reviews here! The drinks are mostly great and a couple of staff are nice but the managers for sure act so mean to those not white here unfortunately unless you tip very well for sure as they might fake the great service only for assumed good tippers??
To the managers here: are you racists just because of the tips and you allow yourself to be rude thinking we dont understand Spanish (I do hear all you gossip about them when sitting so near to the counter!!) ? I personally hear from you and then know from at least 2 customers here about you faking customers complaints just to be mean to an elderly guy by commenting him "he smells like pee"! In both english and Spanish. Stop being so mean to people who are long time customers but they are not in their golden days anymore. And dont lie and fake as I understand and feel shocked of every single word of Spanish you say and I am not hispanic.
Please bring back the previous management (quality)!!! Make sure to recruit a body of staff with more divesity and inclusion (training) not tip-based or skin-based customer service , not Hispanic-only staff please! I will bring this to customer team of their headquarter for sure as this is our neighborhood store so they cant destroy it this way by pushing customers away! On Wednesday August 7 2024, I had an encounter with your shift manager, Ceaser, that was both distressing and unacceptable. While I was enjoying my time at the café, Ceaser approached me and my friend's child in a manner that was both aggressive and intrusive. He entered my personal space and accused the child of being too loud, an interaction that felt not only unnecessary but also threatening. As a woman, I immediately felt vulnerable and unsafe, particularly given the way he confronted me. His actions triggered a strong emotional response, compelling me to defend myself using my common sense and my First Amendment rights.
It is deeply concerning that an employee entrusted with managing your business would resort to such bullying behavior, especially towards a woman and a child. This incident has raised serious questions about Ceaser's suitability for his role, as well as his ability to interact with customers in a respectful and non-discriminatory manner.
I believe that no one should have to experience such treatment, especially in a place that prides itself on being a community space. I urge you to take this matter seriously and to ensure that appropriate actions are taken. Ceaser's behavior is not only unfit for someone in his position but also unacceptable in any customer-facing role, particularly one involving women and children.

Read moreThis is a very nice Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. I was in Silverlake, and asked my GPS where the closest Coffee Bean was, and it directed me to this particular location. It was easy to get to, was noticeable from the street, which is Hillhurst, and had ample parking because it shares a parking lot with Albertsons. Once I got there, I remembered having seen it there before, not because I had been there, but because I have been to that Albertsons. Inside the store, the bathroom and the patio are really clean. It seemed like they had all the items to order to eat and drink, as well as gift items, etc. Here's a perfect example of not judging a book by its cover, because the cashier was a little shocking to look at, I think because of the tattoos on her chin and forehead. But, honestly, she couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. She was super sweet! There's a chosen few tables and chairs inside, but plenty more out on the patio.
