PS LAX — Attraction in Los Angeles

Our annual family holiday had been rescheduled 3 times due to Covid-19. In August 2021, the Delta variant resulted in enhanced restrictions in some countries that had reopened for summer tourism. We thought a 4th reschedule was in our future. Instead, we decided to proceed with the trip and roll with ongoing rule changes. As it turned out, the anticipation of travel was far more burdensome than travel itself.

The Private Suite assisted in communicating various requirements to Lufthansa: CDC vaccination record, negative Covid-19 antigen test results, and passenger declarations. Our luggage was whisked off while we luxuriated in a suite overflowing with travel trinkets and snacks until departure. At that time, we proceeded through a private TSA security and driven straight to our plane.

On the way home, a staffer greeted us at the gate and escorted us to the Private Suite. Upon arrival, we proceeded through a private US Customs. We entered the lounge, ordered caffeinated beverages in all forms, and waited to be reunited with our luggage after it went through Customs. From plane disembarkation to sitting down in our car for the ride home took only 25 minutes.

In order to work at the Private Suite, you have to be incredibly accommodating and friendly. The staff went out of its way to pull out all the stops. It made travel that promised to be nightmarish, a total cinch. The only trouble is that now I cannot imagine traveling internationally any other way! United offered me a taste of The Private Suite (TPS) for $375 on a recent flight back from LAX to EWR. It is very nice. The staff is extremely professional and cordial. I have no complaints. They returned my rental car for me which was a nice touch. Basically it was exactly as described.

There are a few differences between the United and standard TPS experiences (beyond the $3125 price difference). There is no preordering of food as near as I can tell. Just snacks. On the plus side most of the snacks are very good (ie, fresh mozzarella and EVOO). Good selection of beverages. Great bathroom amenities.

Also, it’s not so private. We arrived first but were joined by a single passenger and then a party of three. They were all flying United as this is the United suite. Not an issue for us but if you’re expecting being by yourself — don’t count on it.

Being driven to the plane is super cool. The private TSA is nice but little different than lounges such as Virgin Atlantic or British Airways at Heathrow. Beats normal LAX by a lot though.

Was it worth $375 for 2 people? Not really, except as an experience. However, since you’re apparently allowed up to 4 passengers for that price, then it is more than worth it if there 3 or 4 people in your party. Considering the mediocre United lounges at $59 per and I would gladly pay...

My Best friend and I had a planned girls trip to Hawaii to attend another friends wedding. We decided to go all out and spoil ourselves by booking the private suite at LAX. It was truly a FULL VIP spoiled experience from beginning to end! When we arrived, there was a nice and professional team member named Olivia waiting at the door to greet us. She helped us with our bags and escorted us to the private suite we would be waiting in until it was time to board. The room had anything and everything you needed from travel neck pillows to a full bar, candy and any food we would like. It was PURE luxury! After a few mimosas, Olivia let us know it was time to board. She escorted us through our very own private TSA check (and what i mean by private, I mean we did not have to go through the TSA check in the main airport). The private suite has its own high security TSA check in its own building. After we went through security, we had our own private car that drove us onto the airport tarmac and personally escorted us onto the plane. This was by far the BEST most professional VIP experience at the airport. Olivia was awesome to have throughout our experience and everyone we encountered was AMAZING!
