Spa De' LA — Attraction in Los Angeles

I booked a deep tissue massage, but the treatment I received wasn’t actually deep tissue. That wasn’t a big issue for me since I still enjoyed the experience. However, what completely turned me off was the tipping situation. When I went to leave a $10 tip, the front desk staff told me it wasn’t enough and that I should tip more.

First of all, tipping is optional, not an obligation. While businesses may suggest tip amounts, those are simply recommendations—not requirements. I found it extremely unprofessional to be pressured into tipping more, especially when I was already leaving a tip out of courtesy. We called to inquire about the review regarding a prescribed tip and the representative shared that there was misunderstanding, that in no way did the staff or the business convey this information. Upon arrival, we were greeted with friendly staff and there was no signage regarding suggested or prescribed tips.

According to www.ef.edu, 10 things no one tells you about tipping in the US- “Estheticians, massages and other special spa moments- The rule of thumb here is 15-20%.”

We were a group of three and were each asked to confirm what type and duration of service we had chosen. We all had wonderful massages and tipped appropriately.

I had such a wonderful experience at Spa De LA. From the moment I walked in, the energy was calm, welcoming, and exactly what I needed. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, making sure I felt comfortable and taken care of the entire time.

The massage itself was amazing — easily one of the best I’ve had in LA. My therapist was skilled, intuitive, and really listened to the areas I wanted to focus on. I left feeling completely relaxed, refreshed, and so much lighter, both physically and mentally.
