I have mixed feelings. I am thankful to have gotten so much help with supplies and people were easy to reach, volunteers helpful and seemed like they cared about the cats. I genuinely appreciate that these cats don’t have to roam the streets and know it’s overwhelming to have so many cats and that there are a million needs to see to. However, I think the living conditions are not that great. I’m fostering two cats and one of them had fleas (nobody told me) despite them telling me that they get flea medicine every month. It would’ve been almost impossible for the fleas to feed on them if they had been given medicine regularly. After mine got treated they have no more fleas, but I’m not sure if I still have them in my house. The second cat had a bald patch I thought was just a scar, but now it’s looking like some sort of skin disease or fungus. I wish I had access to their medical records, because it doesn’t seem like anyone examines them too closely or they definitely would’ve caught it. Do I have fleas and ringworm in my house now? Maybe! Could all of this have been prevented? Yes! Am I also frustrated having to pay for flea extermination sprays and combs and vacuum every day for two months? Absolutely. That being said, I love having the cats live with me and have no issues with their behavior. They are wonderful little angels and so easy to love! If you do foster or adopt, make sure you know if they were given flea medicine and if so when, and have them combed for fleas before coming to your house. That way if you find any they can be treated before causing a nightmare.

As I write this, my best pal sits on my shoulder. Thank you Stray Cat Alliance for helping me find this amazing creature. I adopted Suzy from SCA about 5 months ago. I met her at an adoption event and immediately was bewitched by her affectionate nature and haunting (but sweet) stare. Now I can’t imagine my life without her. Stray Cat Alliance saved Suzy, who was scheduled to be euthanized at a South LA shelter, when she was brought in with severe lesions on her neck and back. (The last picture is from her intake at the shelter.) They determined she had a non-contagious skin condition and rehabilitated her in the months before I adopted her. SCA’s vet performed multiple surgeries on her and consulted with dermatologists to figure out how to get her stable. It was a tough road; when I saw her medical history my jaw dropped. But they didn’t give up. They kept giving her love and care. When I adopted her, she was still recovering, and now with a quiet home and predictable routine, it’s remarkable how healthy she is. I cannot thank everyone at Stray Cat Alliance enough for sticking with this cat and giving her a second chance. Please give this organization a try, donate, adopt, and support their cause. They deeply care for the animals they serve and I’m so grateful for all the work they do.

It's been about 2 months since I adopted 2 cats from this organization and I couldn't be happier. I was a bit apprehensive about adopting as a first-time pet owner, but SCA's professed commitments to being a no-kill org and other statements re: attention to ethics convinced me to go through with them in spite of some mixed web reviews. SCA completely put any of those fears to rest and helped me 100% of the way. The adoption turnaround was actually quicker than I expected, and the staff member who worked with me continued to be very responsive to any questions I had or support I could ask for even after I brought our kitties home. SCA also provides you with information packets for how to keep your cats happy and healthy, took care of vaccinations and spay/neuter in advance, and was proactive and meticulous with providing us all the necessary documentation for future vet visits and insurance. Our cats are thriving now and bring inimitable joy to our lives as well. Thank you SCA!

Stray Cat Alliance has poor and inconsistent communication; their shelter has more cats than they can handle, yet they insist solo cat owners adopt two cats at a time. They would rather their cats live FOREVER in cages than have someone with a job rescue them. When I first entered, Rebeca Robles insisted I adopt two cats, as I lived alone and left the house for my job. Anything 8 hours or longer she would not accept. She was not telling other people entering the same thing, including a solo man who wanted to foster a cat that needed help expressing urine three times a day. They were willing to let him take the cat. I went in and was interested in an adult/senior tabby who was rescued from euthanasia and wouldn't eat. The volunteers and techs in the care room, who are lovely, encouraged me to take him home, as he might eat in a safe space. I told them about Rebeca's "policy," and they talked to Monica and said it would be fine if I adopted or fostered him by himself. I said I would wait for the bloodwork results. I applied to foster and said I worked ten hours for four days. For three days, I am COMPLETELY free. I emailed the shelter from home, and Rebeca updated me. The second time I reached out, she again began insisting that I could not take him home unless I adopted/fostered two. The communication is EXTREMELY inconsistent here. The volunteers, techs, and clinic that ALL encouraged me to take the cat home said it would be better for this cat to be alone, and that insisting on two cats each person was unreasonable and outdated. They scoffed when I had brought up Rebeca's "policy" that only applied to me. Stray Cat Stephanie Medrano then replied to my email and agreed that Rebeca was INCORRECT, that the policy did not apply to older cats. However, she stated ten hours was too long for a cat to be alone.. 'STRAY CAT' WOULD RATHER A CAT BE BEHIND BARS ALONE FOR 24 HOURS THAN BE ALONE FOR 10 HOURS IN THREE DIFFERENT ROOMS. Their cages barely claim 2' x 2'.. 14 hours of my personalized care and space was not enough for Rebeca and Stephanie; they would rather their poor cat, who was stressed out and never chosen by anybody, who's never left the shelter for ALL SIX YEARS of his life, continue to be alone for 24 hours in a sad little cage. The poor cat hasn't eaten from stress since I last saw him, which has been two weeks; the volunteer confirmed. Overall, I am not surprised they are overwhelmed; administrative staff that work for three hours a day and never even care for the cats want their cats to be only given to unemployed people, remote workers, and people with roommates who can't even afford a full unit, let alone cat medical bills. The volunteers and staff behind want their cats to go to loving homes. I hope the cats and the rest of the staff find better...

My recent experience at the Stray Cat Alliance adoption event left me with mixed feelings. While there were aspects that initially impressed me, there were significant issues that ultimately led to disappointment.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by a group of volunteers who seemed helpful and diligent. They patiently answered all my questions and provided valuable information about the adoption process. I appreciated their assistance as I perused the selection of adorable kittens. It was during this time that I fell in love with a wonderful cat who was housed in a cage with his brother.

To my surprise, I was told that they were not bonded and could be adopted individually. Encouraged by this news, I agreed to begin the adoption process. However, when filling out the application form at the desk, a lady asked which two cats I wanted to adopt. I clarified that I only wanted to adopt one, as I didn't have any cats at home. It was then that she informed me that they only adopt cats in pairs or to homes that already have cats. I couldn't help but feel frustrated by this revelation. Why wasn't this information communicated to me earlier? It would have saved me time and prevented me from developing an attachment to the cats.

I find it difficult to comprehend how these cats, who are strays and street cats, are deemed to be so strictly bonded that they cannot be adopted individually. I believe that finding them a good home should be the priority, rather than imposing rigid adoption requirements. This approach seems counterproductive and not helpful at all.

Furthermore, I couldn't help but notice some concerns regarding the conditions of the cats. The organization's apparent focus on getting rid of cats in pairs rather than supporting them in sanitary conditions raises serious doubts about their commitment to animal welfare.

In light of my experience, I would advise potential adopters to exercise caution when considering Stray Cat Alliance. While the volunteers initially seemed helpful, the conflicting information and unnecessary barriers in the adoption process left me feeling disappointed. If you're looking to provide a loving home for a cat, there are other reputable adoption centers and shelters that may better...

I volunteered here, doing anything they asked me to, from cleaning, driving around to pickup things needed for cats, helped financially as much as I could to help with care of cats and also fostered 2 cats with medical need for about 2 month that I wanted to adopt. One day an evil lady called Avarie, who is foster liaison, asked me to take the kittens for vaccination and check up. So I drop them off there, waiting for their call to go pick them up but they call and say we need to keep them overnight for monitoring. The day after, that I had to go to work, that evil lady, Avarie, text me saying someone else has seen the kittens in my care and want to adopt them and if I want them, I should go there immediately and pay their adoption fees as a deposit to hold them for me. Me, being at work, I said I want them and will stop by after work but she said it’s too late and they’re gone. I took care of these babies like my own children, especially with their medical needs etc and had developed feelings for them but that evil lady had let them go, not caring about me and my feelings, after all the volunteer work I had done. I had asked them first day when I went there, before fostering any kittens and they promised me to give me a chance of adopting before they let the kittens begin adopted by someone else but they lied and this is what I got. I believe in Karma and she will get the same from universe. I wish there was an option for zero star because an organization with an employee like that who is in charge, doesn’t deserve any better. There are other organizations that let you foster and adopt that treat you like a human and don’t have money as their highest priority, just don’t go with this organization or you may...
