I recently moved to a new home in View Park and currently in the process of cleaning out and reorganizing. I have donated to various Good Will stores in the past (Sherman Oaks, Toluca Lake, Hollywood) and never had an issue... until today (July 14, 2019). At approx. 1pm, I stopped by this store's Donation Center to drop off 3 bags of old college books (each was 1/2 full garage bag size). I pulled the first bag from my car and carried it to the front door of the Donation Center which was blocked by huge empty silver metal mesh storage carts and bags, so I was unable to walk in. I heard an elderly male staffer LOUDLY arguing with a younger female staffer while a younger male staffer watched. The older man was belligerent and loud. I stood there for a few secs while they continued to argue in the back... and no one came up front to greet me. I went back to my car and carried the 2nd bag of books to the door. I finally said, "hello" and the older male staffer came to the front while STILL arguing with the female staffer! I told him that I have 3 bags of books and he went off! lol! I mean, it is actually comical now b/c his whole reasoning was asinine to me. He told me that he does not have any more room for books (while he stood in front of a HUGE empty storage cart) and I had to carry the bags away. I told him that I only have 1 more bag in my car trunk and I called and spoke to a woman via phone who told me that this store accepted books. The elderly male staffer then said: "They should not have told you that. You should have spoken to me instead. You have 5 more bags and I can't accept them." Huh? How would I know to ask for him by name? By this time, I was annoyed as I was coming here after church and this man was testing my peace. But I held firm and told him, "I do not have 5 more bags. I said that I have 3 total and only 1 more in the trunk to donate. I just moved to the area and always donate to Good Will and never had a problem before." The elderly man softened a bit and begrudgingly said: "Ok... only 1 more bag." I went to my car and carried my last donated bag to the door. The elderly man started arguing with the female staffer again. I mean, I can't even believe the total lack of professionalism at this Donation Center. The arguing... nonsensical reasoning... trying to prevent a new resident to the neighborhood from donating BOOKS. I will not be returning to this location to donate EVER. The energy is too hectic and unprofessional. Not...
Read moreI’m writing this review because today was the second time I went to this location with terrible customer service. Months ago, I went to drop off a donation but was harassed by a childish, unprofessional security guard. Days later, I went back to ask for the security company's information, but none of the businesses knew how to contact the company.
Today, I went to the donation center to give another donation and was greeted by a rude employee that clearly didn’t like his job. I walk in and ask if they are taking donations. He states yeah, what is it? I said household and clothing items mixed together. He huffed with an attitude and pointed to a bin. I went to my car to grab some of the bags, then when I walked back into the door, he pointed at a different container, so I switched to that container. When I returned with the third trip of stuff, he started to direct me to put it in another bin. At that point, I was frustrated at all his pointing and grunts. I just kept putting everything in the same container and left. I didn’t even wait for a receipt. On my way to my car, it seemed like another lady was receiving the same treatment because she had a frustrated look as I drove away. The other Goodwill locations offer to bring a cart to your car, so you don't have to take so many trips to your vehicle. They don't ask you to separate the items as you bring your items in. It felt like I was forcing him to take my donation. I could've just thrown it all away, but there were a lot of decent shoes, clothes, and household items that were still in...
Read moreBad donation center experiences... i took a lot of stuff and i was asking them if they could help me pushing them in after i already brought them to their door. They look at me but no answer so i was a lil frustrated and i ask them again but now that i really need to take to bins that i wasn't donating now they talk and said "ohh man, now i have to go find them a box, ugg" i left, i was expecting be would be coming with the box i was waiting but another people came and other , so now there are two so i asked the other one. About the box. Of course he doesnt know so i explained and he didnt say anything. What is wrong with these slow people. I did it putting them on top of another box. And i asked one last question. Should i leave them their, its to heavy to move it inside. And you guess it, he looked at me and say anything. Although right now that i am typing this, this is funny, but at the moment it was frustrating.
Store... its ok, not for me to give an extra star for it
Cashier...its excellent, though i just can say that for one cashier, because there was a returned so everybody in line had to wait and he was like explaining to us and let us know that as soon as the manager deal with the return, he will attend us and apologising for the inconvenience.
Location... good parking area. Still not raising the stars.
That donation center made me need to change my donation center location, just to avoid that feeling to...
