Today, I fell 100 ft or more!Friday August 9th 2019, approximately 4 pm. Let my dog run loose almost every day here. Easy access through the fencing behind The Wigwam Club. Look for the bars that are pulled apart.
There was maybe 15 people at the first Cove by the old railroad tracks. I always try and help out those that want to find sunken city and how to be safe from LAPD.
They will wait at the entrances and ask you how did you get in here. You must always say that you came up from the beach and tide pools. The tide was coming in and it was unsafe and started climbing up the mountain side, Cliffside, and just say you've never been here before and started looking for a way back to the street. You needed a safe exit! If you have any alcohol or drugs dumped them immediately before exiting. They will arrest you because it's federal land.
Today was the first time I saw LAPD in those all terrain four-wheel vehicles inside Sunken City! There's a place I could have just sat I'm waiting for my dog to come back to me but then I started thinking too much! I was off a trail and I saw a way to get down to the water if I just slid down on my butt. Also wearing eyeglasses and they dropped so I reached over to get them while I was sitting on the mountain side on my butt and then I started to fall! At least 100 ft! But I went with the flow thinking I will land on my feet when I get down to the bottom because I'm sitting on my butt, the safest way to go down a Mountainside and not break bones.
I did not expect that I would land on my tailbone and being excruciating pain! I got into a fetal position and had trouble breathing! I landed on a big Boulder Rock right on my tailbone!
Luckily I always wear long-sleeve shirt and long pants so my arms and legs were cut up from the ride down but only superficially. I rolled over on my side and on all fours to see if I could stand up. I was so scared that I broke my back and was permanently paralyzed.
I always keep things with me when I go over here, because I'm a type 1 diabetic. I had my cell phone, my sugar tablets, and Insulin Pen, at a tiny bottle of water. 4 oz. For the dog.
I was able to stand up but I was holding on to the side of the mountain which is made of sandstone and crumbles in your hands! I also caused avalanches every inch that I walked. My dog was trying to help me and was trying to tell me "climb back up the mountain side! tide is coming in we're going to drown!"
Easy for my four-legged friend with no painful back injury that just occurred!
Luckily I had good hiking shoes on. But the water was coming in a little piece a rock area that I was laying down on! I had to start my journey of a half-mile to get back to Cabrillo Beach.
I'm in such pain right now but I just got an alert from Google about how was your trip to sunken city today?!
I always promote sunken city as a place if you need to get away from other humans because you rarely run into one. It's probably around 6 p.m. when I started my journey to get back to safety.
The water was coming in the waves were getting big and crashing on my body! There were tricky areas to walk through and my dog got swept away from the waves! But she was able to come back Inn and hold on to the big rock and jump towards me. worried about my cell phone car keys
Another good idea when you go here is to always put your cell phone in a ziplock bag and if you have electronic car keys do the same! Just do it!
Then Three Angels Came walking all the Rocky tide pools. This is before you reach the black outage pipe. I still had about a quarter mile to go.
It was a beautiful Latina woman perhaps in her 50s or 60s with her two adult children, a man and a woman. She look like a supermodel the sixty-year-old woman! She only had on sandals in this long yellow dress with beautiful long hair. I asked if anyone had a bottle of water because I was completely dehydrated. She came over to me and said she knows a little English but I look very ill because my face was very pale and white. I was going...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to visit the Sunken City and Street Art near Point Fermín, and it was an absolute highlight of my trip to the Los Angeles area. The views from the top of the cliff were breathtaking, and the street art was truly stunning. Despite the fact that the area is known for its dangerous cliff, I felt perfectly safe thanks to the presence of knowledgeable and attentive staff who were always on hand to offer assistance and guidance. The fact that the area is only accessible by a challenging hike only added to the sense of adventure and accomplishment I felt upon reaching the top. Overall, the Sunken City and Street Art near Point Fermín are a must-see for anyone visiting the Los Angeles area, and I would highly recommend the experience to anyone looking for a unique and memorable outing. Just be sure to follow all safety guidelines and listen to the staff to ensure a safe and...
Read moreIn case y’all haven’t noticed, I’m a sucker for a good sunset photo opp… this is definitely the place. Perfect spot is a at a little cove that’s kinda fenced off. You can see the entire area of Sunken City. It’s a great place if you catch it on a good day. Attracts knuckleheads that ruin it for everybody, but not as often as people think. Parking sucks. Not going to lie about that. And the amount to get in and park…. I believe it’s $9 or $10….. if the parking lot wasn’t a giant tailgate party all the time, I’d totally pay for parking. It’s ridiculous. So the family and I either walk up and down the hill one needs to take to get down there, or we walk down the hill then hike up one of the many dirt paths on the side of the hill. Although the parking issue can be a big deal to some, that’s only bad thing-no not bad-Inconvenient thing...
