I don't know where to start. I'm not a street skaters, so I won't go on a long rant about the complete lack of transitions. If the locals like the design, that's NOMB. But it does bug me how the local skaters are discriminated against.
This park is listed as open until 10pm. The signs in the park say 10:30pm.
And yet, at 9:30pm on a Saturday, there are no lights running in the skate park. The locals continue to skate through 10 p.m. without lights just getting by on the incidental light from the tennis courts next door.
The really frustrating thing is that there are 8 tennis courts with lights shining as bright as the sun at 10 p.m. even though the tennis court sign says they close at 9 p.m.
The tennis courts are completely empty. So the city would rather waste hours and hours of electricity on tennis courts that are not even being used. But the half dozen skaters in the plaza are not even accommodated to the time listed on the sign.
Now, of course there are cameras watching them from both sides of the skatepark. But providing light would cost too much?
If this park wants to close at 9pm, then they should do it officially and alter all the signs. But they should be consistent and turn out the lights for the tennis courts and the empty soccer field.
This is the same story I see in cities all over the country. Cities love to pat themselves on the backs during the ribbon cutting ceremonies for these skateparks. But actually supporting skateboarders is just too much...

It is attached to Westchester Recreation Center and is situated near the playground and gymnasiums. Located at 7000 Manchester Avenue. The recreation center has video security cameras throughout the facility. Helmets are not required but...
Read moreNice skatepark designed by the berrics which caters to skateboarders of all skillset. Definently a more street styled skatepark. Usually plenty of parking, and there is a bathroom and recreation center located right next to the skatepark. ADVISORY: The ground here at Westchester is very slick, so it is easy as hell to power slide and kinda hard to land tricks sometimes. Just be smart if your gonna turn at a high rate of speed here cause you can wipe out from sliding out kinda easy if your not careful. The park has a counterclockwise flow. Very easy to push once and get around...
