This is our family’s third year playing at this rec, and up until now our experience has been overwhelmingly positive. However, today we were approached by the director in such a rude manner that I felt compelled to share this feedback.
While waiting for my other child’s practice, we decided to go inside the gym with my toddler while my oldest son and his friend were shooting the ball. The gym was mostly empty, but the director approached them harshly, saying they couldn’t be there, likely assuming they were unattended, even though I was just a few feet away. When I asked who she was, she emphasized her position as director but never adjusted her tone.
After I questioned her further, she shifted the issue from them being unattended to saying she didn’t want them to damage the rims by hanging on them since they were lowered for the younger age groups’ practice. I completely understand that concern and had no reason to argue with her. What troubled me was the way she initially approached my boys, assuming they were alone, and then doubling down with the same tone and attitude even after I identified myself.
We complied right away and were never combative. Both my son and his friend, who were together at the time, are honor roll students and very respectful kids. The interaction was unnecessarily hostile and left a poor impression after years of positive experiences here.
Fortunately, I was there to speak up for my boys, but I wonder how she would treat other kids from the local neighborhoods who may be seeking refuge from street life or other harsh environments. Kindness goes a long way, and her approach missed an opportunity to build trust...
Read moreThere is no sand to get in shoes and all over the car. Play areas are padded on the ground and shaded above on some areas. There is lots of open hard surface play space for large toys with wheels ( scooters etc.). There is a separate fenced in toddler space filled with things to climb and things that they can interact with to explore and it is all shaded. My grandson loves it! My favorite part of the park since I was a child myself is the hill behind the park and the hiking paths. They have indoor basketball courts and lots of indoor things going on so the hot weather isn't such an issue. Everything is set way back from the main street since baseball fields are out at the front of the property. Some of the parking lot has tree shade during different times of the day. Bring your sunblock and water and go...

park with a big hill, baseball fields, basketball court, and lots of plants. Be careful around sunset, there are 4 coyotes that lives around the park, they are the size of a skinny German shepherds, some reason people feed them in the backside of the park.
The hill is very green around winter, late spring to early fall is dead and yellow.
The center itself hosts a lot of different things for kids, has a gym for playing some indoor sports, swimming pool.
The playground has lots of stuff including a giant xylophone. The center has a separate gated park for toddlers that's not...
