A totally unique venue in this city. Run by fantastic people. The exceptional art displays alone are worth the time to come visit. And of course they have a full bar serving craft beers and mixed drinks.
But they keep upping their game on the live music aspect. They are drawing fantastic acts from all over. The space has always been great for music. Yet they continuously strive to improve the sound with new equipment redesigns and acoustic treatment. It is one of my favorite places in town to see shows, and it is one of my favorite places to perform. Drummer and masterful Metal Crafter Andy Cook, is continuously working overtime to build this venue into something special.
In addition to this, they have a host of shops to visit and even a hair salon called The Tree Boutique, run by the fabulously talented hair stylist, Teresa Wells.
I highly recommend catching a show or just visiting Portal. It has so...

Keep your eyes and ears peeled, too, because they are about to blow the roof off on booking the best local music into their amazing, newly redecorated and renovated entertainment space w an adjacent, giant sprawling outdoor patio and it's all protected within a 10ft tall, rolled razorwire fitted gate and a secure off-street parking lot with approximately 50 spaces along with ample street parking surrounding the block. There's literally nothing else like it Louisville or anywhere else I've been.
In addition to all that, it has a living/ever-evolving gallery space with a wine bar for DIY events and it's all powered by the highly regarded custom fabrication shop - Rockerbuilt - that can literally make anything under the sun if you have the budget and the will to make it happen.
Come F around and find out - this place is just...
Read moreI went to see Battles on 4/28/23 with Introvert Music & Buddy Crime. Mind-blowing venue and performances by all 3 artists! I was really impressed with every aspect of PORTAL. Got there before the doors opened and took photos of the outstanding graffiti/art on the structure and surrounding structures. The doors didn't open at 7pm as originally stated on the Facebook event posting. But I wasn't upset because things happen PLUS they allowed us to tour the art gallery inside the front of the building before the show. Very cool and I received a free water from the bartender. Outside is a remarkable courtyard with some seating and more art on the walls. They had a food truck from Spinelli's pizza this time. Smoking is allowed in the courtyard by the way. All staff were professional and helpful. Clean bathrooms too. I'll definitely be back again. I recommend this place...
