Peerless Distillery is a remarkable stop on the Bourbon Trail, known for its commitment to crafting exceptional bourbon and providing an engaging experience. My recent visit was nothing short of fantastic, thanks in large part to the outstanding tasting session and the knowledgeable guide who led us through it.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere at Peerless was warm and inviting. The distillery itself is beautifully designed, blending modern aesthetics with hints of its rich history. The staff greeted us with genuine enthusiasm, setting the tone for an enjoyable experience.
Our tasting guide was a standout during the visit. He was not only informative and knowledgeable but also had a down-to-earth demeanor that made the experience feel personal and engaging. His humor added a lighthearted touch to the session, making it easy for everyone to relax and enjoy the tasting. He shared insightful stories about the distillery’s history, the bourbon-making process, and the unique characteristics of each pour, which helped deepen our appreciation for what we were sampling.
Now, let’s talk about the bourbon. The pours we experienced were nothing short of fantastic. Each expression showcased the quality and craftsmanship that Peerless is known for. The highlight was definitely their flagship bourbon, which delivered a rich and complex flavor profile. Notes of caramel, vanilla, and a hint of spice danced on the palate, making for a truly enjoyable tasting experience. The balance and depth of flavor were impressive, especially considering the distillery’s relatively recent emergence in the bourbon scene.
While the bottles are on the expensive side, I firmly believe they are worth the investment. The quality of the bourbon, coupled with the memorable experience at the distillery, makes it a worthwhile addition to any bourbon lover's collection. It's clear that Peerless takes pride in their craft, and the results speak for themselves.
In conclusion, I highly recommend making Peerless Distillery a stop on your Bourbon Trail journey. The combination of a fantastic tasting experience, an informative and entertaining guide, and outstanding bourbon makes it a standout destination. Whether you're a seasoned bourbon enthusiast or a newcomer, Peerless offers something special that you won't...
Read moreSince starting my cross country road trip in January 2023 friends have reached out along the way looking to help create memorable experiences. And one of those high on the list was the invitation for a private tour of the Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company in Louisville Kentucky USA.
Located in the lower core of downtown Louisville Kentucky, Peerless has been a whiskey maker since the 1880s. And the company offers tours of their beautifully restored warehouse distillery where the legend behind this award winning Bourbon Rye Whiskey is created.
It's important to state this wasn’t your everyday tour where you're checking your watch and can’t wait to leave. No, this was the complete opposite. Even though I’m not much of a drinker, a great story is a great story, making it hard to not appreciate this company’s commitment to quality products and professional excellence.
From the front entrance to the interior design strategy of the office space, the building's design has this amazing sense of quality that flows throughout.
Something that made this tour special was the time taken to explain the history of Kentucky Bourbon; this included a thorough education behind the different distillers and their competitive spirit throughout the industry. It was a wonderful learning experience that kept me fully engaged. The guide happened to be a friend of a friend who came prepared for questions and took us through the complete history of the company, and creative process.
Everyone working for the company is super nice. It's like you’re part of the family. The tour is well planned and exciting to follow, quite possibly the coolest tour of all time!
And the people running the tour are incredibly knowledgeable while explaining how Peerless has become an award winning Whiskey maker, and is now considered by many consumers to be the industry standard.
So there’s many reasons for taking this tour but one of the standouts is the attention to detail put into the restoration design and flow of this building’s connected structures. This place is stunning, it’s a beautifully restored building and without question a must experience tour in...
Read moreThe first distillery visit was to @kentuckypeerless a couple weeks ago. Located on the west portion of downtown Louisville, it was only a 10 minute walk to the distillery from our hotel. Fortunately for us, the weather began to warmup enough that the short trip was enjoyable. The signage on Main St. help those who are unfamiliar with the locations of the distilleries on the urban bourbon trail, of course if you are armed with a smart phone, this isn’t much of an issue. Peerless is not necessarily the new kids on the block, as their first barrel was filled in 1881, however they did go through a period in which no whiskey was coming out. It wasn’t until the business was revived in 2014 by Corky and Carson Taylor, that the brand was revived. Corky Taylor took the time to greet us when we arrived and welcomed us to his business. Upon hearing that I was a veteran, he took us in the back and gave us some more history that I hadn’t heard. Namely, that Corky’s dad was the right-hand man to General Patton. Yes, that General Patton! Corky was very proud of his dad and rightly so. Corky has much pride for his dad and for all of us veterans. We had to cut the history lesson short as we were there for a tasting. That also meant pulling my youngest daughter away from her first distillery cat encounter, Rye.
The tasting included the core lineup of bourbon and rye, along with the single barrel offering of the same two which were distillery-only. Our guide also threw in a sample of the double oak offering since we were such a good group 😜. Honestly all of the whiskey we sampled were phenomenal, especially the single barrels. Talk about a flavor bomb. My wife, who up until this point did not like rye whiskey, became in instant fan of Peerless’ ryes. Our decision to purchase them was a resounding one, along with two new lifelong fans of this distillery were what left the distillery that afternoon.
If you get a chance to stay or visit Louisville, you can not miss the opportunity to check out what is happening at this...
