Ok, I am rarely one to leave reviews. But I have to, because I think it's unfair that there are so many negative reviews and not enough good, honestly. I almost didn't go because of the reviews, but I'm glad we did. Me and my husband took our daughter and her friend. They LOVED it. They loved the new slides the best. Regarding some of the negative reviews, I am wondering if they went after a recent rain or wind storm...because that matters in Lubbock. Because the wave pool was super clear, as well as the slide exit pools. The pirate kiddie area water wasn't the clearest, but it wasn't dirty either. And kids are gross, especially little kids, along with their parents going in and out of there with shoes on from the outside - and again, Lubbock is dirt. There is a literal dirt field beside the place. I am surprised it was as clean as it was. The lazy river wasn't dirty but it did have debris in it (mainly leaves). There are trees and bushes...so that makes sense. But I like the fact it has greenery in and around it.
Here are some honest thoughts from a person who understands business and marketing:
We went to the wave pool first and stayed there almost an hour. The kids loved it, and it was super clear. We went to the slides next. The concrete is really hot so take your shoes with you and leave them next to wherever you'll need them. Not really sure how that is avoidable with heat. I'll probably get us water shoes for next time. We were going to go on the biggest slide, but you had to wait in line for someone to exit the slide, then hand off the mat to you. The mats are worn and some do need replacements, but it's not as dramatic as some make it sound. Have fun figuring out which new slides are fastest and slowest, because you'll get cleansed in all areas of your body when you come flying out of those slides like a bullet. LOL it was fun though. -The lazy river was not super clear but it wasn't murky either. It was shallow, but that's ok because kids are in there. Also makes it easy to get on and off a float. We enjoyed it. People were nice and gave us a tube when they were done. Seems they just need more for everyone. I went to the restroom and it was not very clean, mainly due to people. They leave their dirty tracks, fill up the trash cans and let them overflow without notifying anyone they need to be changed...honestly sometimes we need to look at the people at the place instead of management. People are just gross when it comes to bathrooms in general. But I didn't go inside entirely so I can't speak to the actual stalls. We rented a locker, but all they had were the smallest ones left. I think they are getting more stacks of them next year. There are the new ones and then the old ones available. Ours worked great though. They're the kind they have at Great Wolf Lodge in Dallas. I do think it's interesting people complain about the cost though. They obviously haven't gone to places that make you pay much much more for a locker, food, etc. - like GWL. It was $144 for four of us. For comparison, a full day pass at GWL is $85. So I think this is reasonable. The water to run this place alone is probably astronomical in Lubbock. If you haven't been to GWL then you don't know how great you have it paying these lower prices here! There is no outside food or drink allowed. That's standard at pretty much any kind of theme park I can think of. We didn't get to eat there because the line was long and we had to get home, but the food smelled and looked good from what I could tell! I definitely would have eaten it haha. It seemed like there needed to be more chairs available for laying out, but there were plenty of places to sit if you include the picnic tables - and those were all shaded. It wasn't bad though. I think more tents over the lounge chair would be good if it could be afforded in the next year if feasible. The only thing I could say that I would like to be better is the music (play oldies and 90s...
Read moreCute Water park nestled in Lubbock, a nice oasis from the heat. The slides could use a few updates. -For example, the slide with the mats needs more updated and complete mats. The ones we used were tattered and torn. That slide goes very fast so keep your elbows in and hold your nose. If you have glasses, hold them. -There are no changing rooms, only bathrooms. I had to change next to a toilet. -There are lockers for rent for wallets. -Parts of the walkways to slides and around the park are VERY HOT. My feet got burned a few times. It’s good to wear water shoes when walking around. -Food choices include pulled pork sandwiches, pizza, nachos, cotton candy, ice cream, water to drink and soda. They need healthier options. -There weren’t enough inner-tubes available for the lazy river, and some were deflated. Some people brought their own tubes. -Wear a hat for the lazy river. It’s very relaxing but very shallow. -The wave pool was underwhelming. Not many waves and the water level itself seemed low. -There is a steep drop blue tunnel slide that made me scream every time! It’s a hoot. Very disorienting. -Covered red slide was hot inside but fun and fast. The open red and blue slides were relaxing and a good pace. -All lifeguards were friendly and one found my daughters lost glasses! 🤓 Thanks guys! -A little pricey and everyone pays the same amount. -No outside food or drink and they go through your bags when you get there. -Military discount! Score! -Lots of chairs around and some shaded areas under umbrellas or trees if you can snag them. -Kids splash area with the big bucket was fun for everyone. Overall worth the trip! I’d say eat ahead of time, bring lots of sunblock, a hat, sunglasses, and water shoes, and...
Read moreYou know somebody said, "life is better with a splash of adventure and to embrace the thrill and exhilaration with a smile on your face." Whoever said that nonsense, you LIED!!!! I just went down this horrifying blue, wet water descent propelled by force and the stinging wave of chlorine knowing if that water slide was sentient it was laughing joyfully at the thought of burning my eyes and destroying my very soul for a few seconds. That initial drop is immediate without time to think, and a rush of regret as you scream at the top of your lungs, is stomach flipping and utterly terrifying where you don't think your lunch knew which end it should come out of. You're essentially a human projectile, briefly weightless before gravity reasserts itself saying, "What girl! You thought this was going to be easy!" You question yourself wondering if the warmth between your legs is the friction from the speed demon slide or just that you peed yourself a little. You splash into the pool below like a supersonic jet, praying you managed to keep your swimsuit on. Yet, you discover that your old mama bathing suit crawled so far up your crack that if you were to fart right that instant, you would probably blow out bubbles. You splash into the pool at the end of this heart stopping, soul stealing contraption flying across the water like an angry hippo to emerge disoriented and rethinking all your life choices. Whoever said "Slides for the fearless, memories for a lifetime" must've sniffed waaay too many markers in elementary school. Now, do I recommend it, yeah, I...
