Vitense Golfland — Attraction in Madison

This establishment had some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. The first and most pressing issue was that my girlfriend, who is 23 years old, was said to have a fake ID when we tried getting a drink. The bouncer shined a phone flashlight through the ID and said that because the color was not white, he could not serve us. He said that his method was universal and foolproof for checking all state IDs. It took one 30-second search to see that this method is not reliable. It was also proven unreliable by the fact that he denied a real horizontal ID from someone who turns 24 in a month. This ID was also relatively new, as she had to get a new one when she turned 21, so it wasn't in poor condition. This failure on his part created an embarrassing situation for everyone involved and highlighted the staff's lack of competence.

The interaction with the staff at the counter was also relatively poor. They barely acknowledged us and provided no instructions on how the mini golf courses worked at this establishment. They didn't instruct us to retrieve balls while we were at the counter and didn't provide us with any additional instructions related to the courses, such as the tracking sheet or the starting point.

The actual courses were adequate, but the interaction with the staff ruined our entire experience. I would not recommend this course to anyone because...

Surprised by the high ratings. The service at Vitense is really, quite awful. We've gone at various times of the day, different days of the week, because it's really the only option of it's kind in Madison. Each time, minus one, the service has been so poor, we leave talking about "They could be so good, if only they had good servers" Yesterday, They were a little busy, but not crazy. We were able to get a suite. Waited for 15 minutes to order. After seeing servers pass us numerous times, I finally asked (politely) if there was a server for the suites, to which the server said "She's right there, I'll let her know you'd like some help" Five minutes later, I walked up to the counter, to find our server sitting down. I asked if we could order, the server said "I'm your server, I'll come down" I felt like I was really inconveniencing her. After we'd stopped ordering, and were about done, I was hitting golf balls when I heard her ask if we were done. I said yes, thanks. She then, from 20 feet away, said "your bill is $__, how much do you want to tip me?" We love the facility and that it's a local place, but desperately need service training. *one note, we did have great service two weeks ago from Will, who genuinely seems to understand...

We just had my daughter's first birthday at Vitense, and it could not have been a more wonderful experience! From the start, we worked with Allen who helped with every question and detail I had regarding the party (I had a lot)! He was timely with his responses and so professional. He walked me through the space, helped me with the menu and the logistics of people, timing, etc.

On the day of the party, we had our own attendant named Tani who was so helpful, kind and attentive. She helped me order more food when we needed it, made sure the party room was clean and ready for set up, and she was really there for anything we needed.

And the food! We had so many compliments from guests about how good the food was as well! We had to order more sliders because people were eating so many! The pizzas, fruit trays, pretzel bites, etc were SO yummy. We didn't know what to expect for food at a mini golf venue, but the kitchen rocked it.

As always, the facilities were clean and fun, which was nice being stuck indoors for a February birthday party. Both party spaces were also beautiful and great options depending on your need and party size. Overall, it was such a nice experience, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to...
