After several times of walking by two employees having a casual conversation during a recent visit, I asked for help in locating a particular item. After checking the inventory system, the person who helped informed me the item was not in stock. I then asked about the availability of another item to replace the one not available. He surprisingly said, "You need to find someone in the aisles to help you." Although stunned and insulted, I asked if he could call for someone to assist me (I initially asked for his help because there was no one in the aisles to help). To add insult to injury, as he was walking away from me, he replied "I am working with a bigger customer". He proceeded to briefly speak with the person he was originally talking to, who was also wearing a Depot jacket, and then walked away.
I approached the person he was speaking with (who was the manager of Lombard) and asked if he could call the Branch Manager of Des Plaines, because I wanted to report the employee. The Lombard manager informed me the person who treated me this way was the Branch Manager. I then asked him AND five different employees, including the Assistant Manager and front desk staff for the name of the Regional Manager. They all claimed to not know the name or contact information of the Regional Manager, but all apologized on behalf of their manager.
This person, the Branch Manager of Des Plaines, who should be responsible for guiding the tenor of his staff and demonstrating high standards of professionalism towards ALL customers, is failing miserably. He doesn't know me and has no idea if I am a "big" customer or not. And despite whatever reason he had in insulting, belittling, devaluing, and disrespecting me in front of other people, I am sure he would not dare treat ANY, NOT ONE, white male in the same manner.
And because I shop at various Depot locations, I was able to get the name and phone number of the...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience at the Restaurant Depot in Des Plaines, IL. I came in today hoping to get a day pass and do a quick walkthrough to pick up just a couple of items. I was polite and respectful, as I always try to be when interacting with others.
Unfortunately, I was met with rudeness and unnecessary hostility from the woman at the front desk named Terry. She refused to let me in solely because I had two kids with me—even though they’re older, including one over the age of 12. When I offered to place them in the car briefly—with proper supervision and temperature control—just so I could quickly grab what I needed, she became even more combative. I calmly explained the situation, yet she continued to speak to me in an unprofessional and aggressive tone.
When I asked to speak with a manager, Reeves came out. To my dismay, he was just as dismissive and condescending. He did not make any attempt to hear my side of the situation and seemed to blindly support the employee without any acknowledgment of how I was being treated.
What happened to basic customer service and human decency? I left feeling disrespected and honestly shocked at how I was treated. There is absolutely no excuse for staff—especially management—to behave this way. I truly hope Restaurant Depot addresses this kind of behavior so no one else has to go through an...
Read moreOn October 22nd I purchased 4 boxes of chicken leg quarters. One of them is spoiled. We called restaurant depot the same day explaining that one chicken box is spoiled, and we stay 30miles away so can't come today but we have a plan to come on Friday. The lady said ok, we give refund for food within 72hrs, Friday October 25 falls within 72 hr period and told to stop by the front desk on Friday with pictures. On Friday, I showed the pictures to the front desk lady, she called her manager Reeves. Manager Reeves asked me to bring the spoiled chicken box. I explained that I called and they told me pictures should do within 72hrs. Reeves was not in a situation to listen my explanation of what happened. Wondering how a manager can behave this way and not in an intention to resolve my issue!!! Curious who would store the spoiled chicken in the fridge, also after receiving confirmation from RD staff to show pictures with date time within 72hrs. I need my refund for your spoiled chicken, attached pictures with...
