I came to the Manhattan Computer Hospital based on the glowing reviews and recommendations from friends. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't what I'd hoped. I came in with a broken charging port on my laptop. I was told it would be $160, paying $100 up front as a deposit. I told them I would need the laptop by Monday (one week) for college classes, and they told me it wasn't a problem and i'd likely have it by the next day. They did call me the next day, but it was to let me know that it was going to be $116 on top of the $100 I'd already paid. They also said it would take three days from then to fix. I told them to go ahead and do it with the extra money, because I needed the computer. Three days later, I get a call, and they tell me that they need to order a new MOTHERBOARD. When i asked why, given that the computer was still turning on and functioning when i brought it in, it just wasnt charging, the tech danced around the question until finally telling me that they needed a new motherboard so they "wouldnt have to sauder the new charging port to the old motherboard". Oh, and it was going to cost almost $300 more on top of my deposit now, and it wasnt going to be done until the Thursday of the next week (after classes) because they STILL hadn't ordered any parts after calling me the first time. I told them to cancel my services, because I'd made it very clear I needed the laptop by Monday and they'd changed the price on me three times for seemingly no reason other than to make their own jobs easier (at my expense). They have still kept my deposit, and are now trying to charge me an ADDITIONAL $10 on top of the $100 I've already paid for "diagnostics", despite having done nothing to my computer and constantly changing both the price and the fix time. I was willing to play ball, but the inconsistency made it impossible for me to continue working with them. I ended up buying a new computer for less than they were going to charge me to fix my old one. I'm very frustrated by my experience and hope I dont ever have to go back.
As an addition, the employees were very kind to me in-person. It is nothing against them, I know they are just following policy, but the policies are extremely unfair and I didn't appreciate so many...
Read moreAfter cracking my phone screen, I took it into Computer Hospital in Aggieville just as a drop-in, (but after investigating online what it would cost me to order a new screen and attempt to repair it myself). After seeing what was involved, and discovering that their pricing (for parts and labor) was about the same as what it would have cost me just to order the part online, I was happy to let them do it. And even though in my case it took them a bit longer than they had predicted to me (still same day though), because as I later found out, there was a clip that had got damaged in the repair and they had trouble getting it done completely correctly. So they charged me even less than the original quote, and gave my functional phone back to me with the promise that they would get the broken part ordered and call me in a few days to finish the job. (And meanwhile I was just happy to have my phone back with a nice new glass, and functional enough that I didn't have to go without.) And they were true to their word - and even on the second visit did not add any additional charge to the original (reduced) price since the broken clip happened during their repair. Now my phone is as good as new again, and I'm thinking they likely took a loss in finishing that up for me! In any case, it's my experience that these people will do their best to do right by you. They sure did...
Read moreI’ve been aware of Revive IT Service Center for quite some time, but I never had any technical issues to address, so I never needed to visit—until recently, when I decided to part ways with my gaming PC. I called ahead to ask if they even buy PCs, and they said, “Yes.” Encouraged, I drove 30 minutes to their location, hopeful for a fair appraisal.
Unfortunately, what I experienced left me deeply disappointed. After showing the specs of my PC to the staff member assisting me, I was told, “Your computer is worth $25” and “No one wants a 2080 Super.” This was baffling, considering that on eBay, a used 2080 Super easily sells for $200+.
I understand that businesses need to buy low and sell high to turn a profit, but their offer wasn’t just low—it felt predatory. The way they devalued my PC made me feel like they were trying to take advantage of me, rather than offer an honest deal. It wasn’t just insulting; it destroyed any trust I might have had in them.
Needless to say, I declined their offer and have since prepared to list the PC on Facebook Marketplace. Revive IT Service Center may be fine for repairs, but if this is how they handle buying equipment, I can’t recommend them to anyone. My experience felt less like a business transaction and more like an attempted scam. Buyer (and...
