I was in town for Country Stampede and having never been to Manhattan before, I chose the Holiday Inn based upon the brand name.
Check-in was fine and the staff was courteous and helpful. However, I did notice that the lobby was not very cool and with it being a very warm day it should have been more noticeably cool, imo. It almost smelled musty it was that humid and warm. However, as I was not going to be spending a lot of time in the lobby, I decided it was not really an issue.
Upon getting to my room, it was as expected; clean, efficient and, thankfully, the air conditioning was working. Three issues with the room include the water pressure in the shower; I would consider it non-existent. I unerstand the move to a "green" (whatever "green" means) way of life, however, I spent three times the amount of time from a normal shower. That had to cost more than any benefit gained by being "green."
Issue #2 was with the television. I do not understand how cable tv in hotel rooms is so much different than my television at home. Changing channels took an eternity and with the lack of ANY channel lineup in the room, the television was somewhat useless as a place for information. Fortunately, my iPad did work and I was able to find what I needed there.
Issue #3 was with the pillows and bedding. Very soft and provided little (if any) support. I woke with back and neck pain in the middle of the night and every morning. I understand the expense and everyone being different, however, the bed and pillows were not comfortable at all.
I would love to have a refund for my full stay. Again, I do not expect perfection, however, for the price and length of stay, I felt it was not up to my standards (nor yours) for a good, quality hotel room. However, in todays world of the customer is never right, I expect the usual form letter, "we're sorry for the inconvenience" and the usual "10% off your next stay." If I ran my business like that, I would not be in business much longer....
Read moreI cannot thank this hotel & staff enough. I was a last-minute booking after feeling unsafe at an Airbnb in town. The Holiday Inn had vacancy and I went for it. I called the Front Desk clerk first, so I could speak to someone directly, and she was very helpful & professional and connected me to the Reservation line. The reservation process was relatively smooth. But what really made this an outstanding stay was the nature of the circumstances I was in town for.
My cat of 14 years was in the ICU at K-State for 3 days. I shared this with the manager on duty when I arrived at the hotel for check-in after midnight. He was so gracious and kind, and told me he was sorry I was going through this very hard thing. I shared with him about my Airbnb experience and he looked me dead in the eye and said, "You'll be safe here." No judgement, just grace.
Additionally he let me know that I could ask for more time at checkout if I needed it the next day. This young man showed such emotional intelligence and maturity; I know I was a wreck - he is an absolute gem.
The next morning, my cat died at the ICU. I knew I needed time to sit with the first waves of grief, so I didn't even hesitate to call the manager on duty (Jaihlin I believe?) and ask for extra time. This gentleman was also exceptionally compassionate, patient, and gracious. He communicated with housekeeping about my needs and made sure I had my time.
This last week was one of the most emotionally painful weeks of my life, but the Holiday Inn was my safe space. You guys truly deserve all the praise in the world.
Thank you not only for your excellent customer service, but your kindness and ability to show empathy. I will be back (hopefully under happier...
Read moreThis hotel is a dump compared to other IHG hotels we have stayed at.
Looks like they may have tried to update the facility but, more like lipstick on a pig.
BUT THE STAFF WAS NICE.
The first room we had did not have night stands on both side of the bed. and no AC power supply on 1 side of the bed. Both my wife and I use CAPA machines so important to have both AC and night stands. There was a lamp on the no AC side of bed but had a zip cord running from one side of the room to the other and appeared to had been ran over the bed frame and ahead of the mattress (good possibility of having sparks under the bed instead of on top of the bed) not sure that follows the electrical code. Zip cords are used for short runs usually under 6 feet of the appliance. So requested to get an extension cord and a night stand. and were told none were available so we were moved to another room.
The second room had night stands and power available on both side of the bed which is what one would expect. But the furniture they had for sitting and relaxing on was unacceptable first of all the chair was a lobby chair with a straight back not intended for relaxing, reading or watching TV and the other was a futon with broken seat support straps and could not sit on it very well.
Both rooms had refrigerators that need to be cleaned and defrosted as there was so much frost in the freezer compartment it was render useless.
The bathroom sink would not drain properly and was annoying to say the least.
Really had no choice to stay as we were in town for a funeral and to clear out my mothers apartment so did not have time to complain to management not that it would of done much good. It appears the management and maintenance staff...
